EVERYONE WELCOME
HENSALL
At the annual congregational
meeting of the Hensall United
Church on Wed. Jan. 29 a pot -luck
supper was held at 6:30 p.m. under
the auspices of the W.A, which was
followed by community singing led
by :Miss Greta Laramie at the piano,
Rev. R. A. Brook opened the annual
lneeting by a scripture reading and
prayer. Mr. Edison Forrest was
chosen for secretary for the even-
ing. Rev. Brook addressed the con-
gregation thanking them for them:
successful work during the year
1946, as every organization of the
Church had an increase over the
year 1945. The various reports were
then given and were both very en-
couraging and interesting to hear
and to know how each organization
was progressing. Between the vari-
ous reports Miss Greta Laramie
played a violin selection accompan-
ied by Miss Gladys Luker at the
piano, who also played a lovely
piano solo in memory of the thin-
- teen members who passed away dur-
ing the past year. The number was
entitled "In the sweet bye and bye".'
Mrs. Maude Hedden and Mrs. Geo.'
Hess sang a duet accompanied by
Miss Gladys Luker at the piano. At
the close of this part -of the meeting
Rev. Brook called on Mr. Geo. Fol -
lick for a reading. After a few brief
remarks Mr. rollick called Rev. and
Mrs. Brook and Mr. James Smillie
to the platform. After a short ad-
dress to Mr. and Mrs. Brook, Mr.!
Smillie presented them with a purse
of money as a slight token of the
appreciation of the congregation to
them for their faithful services in
the past. Although taken by sur-
prise Mr. Brook thanked the con-
gregation for `then' kindness to him-
self and' Mrs. Brook, and then called
on Rev; Sanderson to speak a few
words after which the meeting clos-
ed with the Benediction.
Mr. Floyd O'Daer of London
spent the weekend at his home here.'
Bill Mickle spent the weekend in
Toronto. and attended the hockey!
match at the Maple Leaf Gardens on
Saturday evening.

lowed by -the Lord's prayer in uni-
son. The scripture lesson was read;
by Mrs. Jack Corbett: A vocal trio

Mary Goodwin. and Betty Mickle

companied by Miss Eleanor Cook ate
the piano. The hymn "My faith looks

tion
