Coleman, with their families; 'gathered

Wednesday evening is of last week in
honor of Mr. Coleman's, 79t11 birthday
when a very pleasant social. evening
was enjoyed by all, Mr. Coleman is
remarkably active for his years. His
many friends join in wishing hint and
Mrs. Coleman many more years of
health and ,happiness.
Mr. and Mrs. Alf Price in Kitchener
and Waterloo with the latter's bro-

alter spending a few days at the home

turned to Toronto on Satarday after

Mr. and Mrs: A. G. White and baby
son of Kingsville returned to their
borne on Friday, having spent the
holidays with the latter's parents Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Irvine, Kipper, also
with Mr. and Mrs. 'John 'Wood, Sea -
forth. Mr. Alex Irvine accompanied
them to spend a few clays in Kings-
ville.

last week after being a patient in. St.
Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. .

Death of Mrs. Foster Sutherland
The sudden death of a well-known
resident of Breton, Alta. and form-
erly of McKillop, took place at her
home on New Year's Day in the per-
son of Minnie Agnes Campbell, 'be-
loved wife of Mr. Foster Suther-
land. Mrs. Sutherland was born in
McKillop 49 years ago and was the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Camp-
bell of the 14th con. She. went
West about 32 years ago and was.
married there to her now bereaved
husband who survives her with ones
son Billy and four daughters, Mrs.
Johnston of Breton, Alta., and Eve-
lyn, June and Kathleen at home.
She is also survived by three broth-
ers, Mr. Jack Campbell of Westlock,
Alta.., Ernie of Alta., and James of
Edmonton and one sister Mrs. Povey
of Edmonton and one half sister
Mrs Alex. McEwing of Blyth.' One
brother, Mr. •Joseph Campbell and
one sister, Mrs. Chas. Mann pre-
deceased hen within the last year.
Mrs. Sutherland had been in good
health until that morning and while
putting a stick of wood in the fire,
fell and made a bad wound in her
temple. She passed away within an
hour. The funeral was held on Jan
4th from her late residence, inter-
ment in Breton Cemetery. .
The inaugural meeting of the
Hibbert Township Council was held
Monday, Jan. 13, in Staffa township
hall, pursuant to statute with all
members present, who subscribed to
the necessary declaration of office
and assumed their responsibility.
The past officials were all reap-
pointed to their respective offices,
Messrs. Frank Allan and Edgar But.
son were instructed to receive tend-
ers for 15 cords of hardwood for
the township hall. The regular
monthly council meeting will be held
the first Monday in each month at
1 o'clock p.m., except July and Au-
gust when they will be held in the
evening at 8 o'clock. The council
made arrangements to canvass the
municipality for what is known as
the Canada Aid to China nd.

Owing to widespread rumors in regard to
water supply of the Town of Seaforth I wish
to state that there has been no foundation in
fact for any alarm. While the water tests
have not been as clear as usual the Provinc-
ial Dept. of Health in Toronto have assured
us that no special precautions are neces-
sary. The latest report, indicates that the
condition is improving and the water in our
reservoir tests Grade A.

not a hospital plan. Mr. Arthur Mus•
grove of Grey county gave h15 views
on the matter. He lectures on this
plan at the Exeter short course. He
pointed out where everyone in a
community enters into this kind of
voluntary plan there was no chance
of regimentation. The counties of
Dufferin and Sbnc•ue have a plan go-
ing strong and he would like to see
it in Huron, Grey and Bruce. It.
should have self-control lan's made
by the public and supervised by offic-
ers elected by the members with the
right of any group of members to call
a meeting when thought necessary.
The Institute is behind a co-operat-
ive hospital plan 100%. We believe
that this is a step toward prevention
of illness rather than curing one al-
ready neglected. It would reduce the
.need of crowded hospitals. overwork-
ed doctors and nurses, since any one
W0111(1 feel free to go for examination'
or consultation regularly checking the
need of prolonged hospitalization due
to neglect because of debt fear.
We hope all who read this will con-
sider such a Project. Tallc it over as

Mrs. E. B. Goudie moved a vote of
thanks to the speakers and to the
hostess. Auld Lang Synt, and the Na-
tional Anthem closed the meeting.
Lunch and a- social half hour were
enjoyed by everyone.

The township council met in the
hall when all the officers were sworn
in.
Mrs, M. Elliott accompanied by
her sister-in-law Mrs. Morrison of
Ritchener, left Wed, 15th to Make
an extended trip to California.
Mr. Lee McConnell and daughter
are having a vacation with their-
aunts
heiraunts the Misses Easlers, in Min-
neapolis.
Mr. and Mrs. McAsh are now
comfortably settled in their new
house, may they be spared many
years to enjoy it.

John A. Ferguson
The death occurred on Sunday
January 5t11 of a well-known resi-
dent of Seaforth, formerly of Hul-
lett in the person of John A. Fer-
guson in his 63rd year. Mr. Fergu-
son suffered a stroke four years ago
and had been in poor health ever
since. Deceased was born in Hullett,
the son of the late Mr. andMrs.
David Ferguson, Hullett, and
re-
ceived his education in the township.
He was married to Gladys Carter, of
Seaforth, in 1918, and they farmed
in Hullett until a few years ago
when his health failed and they
came to town. He is survived by his
widow and
Churchill Toronto, and Mrs, Thos
Noble, Blyth. He was a member of
First Presbyterian Church, and had
served as a councillor and reeve of
Hullett. The funeral took place from
First Presbyterian Church on Wed-
nesday at 2:30 p:111. with Rev. R. H.
Williams officiating, assisted by
Rev. A. W. .Gardiner of Egmond-
ville. The pallbearers were Oliver
Ferguson, Glen Ferguson, Clarence
Rath, Alvin Dale, R. E. Shacldicic,
Alvin Middleton. Interment was
made in Maitland Bank cemetery.
