Mi•. Sam Jeffrey, on Wednesday,
Jan. Sith, celebrated his 92nd birth-
day. Mr. Jeffrey is justly proud of
the fine age he has attained, and is
receiving the cengratulatione of his
many friends. He elms remarkably
good health and is able to be around
and transact business as usual. His
hearing and eyesight have failed
slightly but he enjoys a good game
of euchre and can play with the
best of them.'
MISS M. WATSON PASSES
REG. N. EXAMINATIONS
Miss Mayme Watson of Stratford
spent the weekend at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Wat-
son. Last week she received word
'she was successful in passing the re-
cent examinations 'of the registered
Nurses Association of Ontario. Miss
Watson is a graduate of The Gener-
al Hospital, Stratford,
MINISTERIAL ASSOCIATION
The regular meeting of the Sea-
forth and District Ministerial As-
sociation will be held on Monday,
January 18 at 2 p.in, in the Manse of
First ' Presbyterian Church. The
paper will be presented by the Rev.
Richard 11. Williams. All members

very slowly after hie severe illness.

are laid up with mumps.

spent a week recently with his many
friends in this vicinity.
Mr, and Mrs. Gordon Fowler of
Toronto are visiting with friends in
these parts.

Mr. Wm. Church left for England
Jan. 3rd, sailing from New York on
the S.S. Washington to visit his par-
ents and sisters. One of his sisters
is in the RAF and is hone on leave
from Singapore. His parents live in
Bedford, England.
Mrs. W. E. Hawley is in Seaforth
nursing her sister, Mrs. C. Hawley
who has been ill.
Mr. Jack ^Hodge and lady friend
of Paris, visited his sister, Mrs. Mar-
garet Horne.

SEAFORTH W. I. TO MEET'
The Seaforth W. I. will meet
Tuesday evening, Jan. 14th at 8
an. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale
Nixon. The roll call is a health hint.
Dr. McMaster will speak, on the co-
operative hospital plan. Mr. Robert
McKercher will also discuss this
plan and' give the motto. Mrs. John
Hillebrecht isthe health convener
for this meeting. The men are in-
vited to attend and anyone else in-
terested in this plan.

president of Seaforth Lions Club.

Maple Lane Farm, Seaforth,
home of Mrs, Wm. G. Wallace was
the scene of a pretty wedding on
Saturday afternoon, Dec. 28th,when
her younger daughter Edith Brazel,
was married to Harold B. Vincent,
son of Yir. and Mr's. A. Vincent of
Belgrave• The Rev. A. W. Gardiner
officiated and Miss Eleanor Hudson.
played the wedding music. The cere
molly took place under an. arch of
cedar and holly, flanked with yel-
low and bronze mums. Given in mar-
riage by her elder brother, Arthur,
the bride wore a floor length gown
of shite silk jersey with over -skirt
of net. Her finger-tip veil was held
in place by a coronet of braided
white velvet. She wore pearls, the
gift of the groom and carried bou-
quet of deep red rose buds, maiden
hair fern and baby's breath. Her
only attendant, Mrs. Robert Archi•
bald, sister of the bride, wore sky
blue crepe with headdress of pink
net, and carried a nosegay of sweet-
heart roses. The., groomsman was
NIr. Leslie Vincent,. brother of the
groom. The bride's mother was dres-
sed in amethyst crepe with corsage
of Talisman roses. Her grandmother
Mrs. D. H. Campbell wore black
silk with shoulder bouquet of .pink
carnations. Mrs. Vincent wore black
crepe with corsage of Better Time
roses. After the buffet luncheon
which was served by the Misses Rota
Mather, Mary May, Margaret Coul-
ter and Jean Waters, girl friends of
the britle, the couple left on their
trip to ski at a popular winter re-
sort in Muskoka.

88TH BIRTHDAY
Mrs. Margaret Wright celebrated
her eighty-eighth birthday on New
Year's Day at the home of her niece
Mrs. Margaret White. She received
numerous gifts and cards and during
the day answered several telephone
calls of congratulations,
JOHN A. FERGUSON
John Armstrong Ferguson, form-
er reeve of Hullett township, passed
away at his home' in Seaforth on
Sunday morning about 11 o'clock
after an illness of about four years.
Mr. Ferguson retired to Seaforth
from his farm in Hullett about three
years ago, and conducted a service
station in town until last year. He
was sixty-two years of age and was
born on the homestead in Hullett
where he farmed, son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. David Ferguson. In
1913 he was united in marriage to
Miss Gladys Carter, who survives.
Mr. Ferguson served for several
erms: on the Hullett township coun-
il and was reeve of the township.
Besides his wife he is survived by
night dance so successful.

The death took place on Decem-
ber: 31st about 10:30 p,m. of Mr.
Angus McQuaig as the result of a
heart condition. He had been ill t
two sisters, Mrs. Annie Churchill;
f Toronto, and Mrs. Thomas Noble'

Williams officiating, Interment was

about two months. Born in Melanie)),
township on Jan. 15, 1868, he was
the son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Duncan McQuaig. Surviving are his
wife, formerly Miss .Grace' McDon-
ald of Walton, to whom he was mar-
ried on June, 4, 1904, one daughter,
Mrs. George Powell of Seaforth, and
two grandchildren. He is also sur-
vived by one sister, Mrs. David Far-
quharson, Vancouver. Two brothers
and two sisters predeceased hint,
Mrs. George Beirnes, Wynyard, Sa-
skatchewan; Mrs. Wm, Sholdiee, of
Grey twp. and John and Duncan.
The funeral was held on Friday
afternoon from the Whitney funeral
home to 'Brussels eemetery. Rev. IL'

PASSES AT FORT ERIE
I•Ierbert M. Henderson died last
week at ihs Pott Erie hospital, after
a long illness. Born in Seaforth a"n
years ago. he received his early eds-
cation here and at Toronto Univers-
ity. Atter one Year of teaching school'.
at. Bryanston he moved to Fort Et -ie
in 1912 and had resided there ever
since,.For the past 20 years lie had
been nest -neatest with the customs and
excise. He was a :12 degree Scottish
Rite Mason and a member -of the

LADIES' AID
The January meeting of First
Presbyterian Ladies Aid was held
on Jan. 7th, in the basement of the
Church with a splendid attendance.
The president, Mrs. H. R. Scott,
,was in the chair. Opened the meet-
ing with a New Year's reading and
prayer. Minutes were read, Secre-
tary and treasurer's •reports were
adopted. Business was discussed,
Mrs. Munn and Mrs. Wright favored
with two duets, "Bendener Stream"
and "Mother Machree's 1Lullabt
which was much enjoyed. Mrs. J. W:
Thompson as guest speaker, brought
a New Year's message, Her subject.
was based on four phases, "Fear
Not, Fret Not, Faint Not and Forget
Not" which was very instructive.
The meeting closed with hymn 494
and closing prayer by • Mrs, D.
Ritchie. A social half hour followed.
ALVA W. WAY -
The death of Alva W. Way, well
known resident of Egmeedville, oc-
curred on Tuesday, Jan. 7, only two
weeks after the death of his wife.
Mr. Way passed away in Scott Mem-
orial Hospital following an illness
of two weeks.. The sympathy of the
community is extended to the ber-
eaved family. Born in Prince Ed-
ward County, May 4, 1871, he was
a son of the. late Wilton Way and
Adelaide Hatt. He Was eight years i
