HENSALL
A very enjoyable evening was
spent at S.S. No. 10 Hay on Friday
evening when a number of neigh-
bours and friends gathered in honor
of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Luker who
are moving to the new home in Hen-
son in the near future, Progressive
euchre was played, the prize win-
ners being Ladies', Mrs. Oliver Row-
cliffe; Gent's, Mr. Edgar Munn.
During the social hour which fol-
lowed Mr. and Mrs. Luker were pre-
sented with an occasional chair and,
coffee .table by Mr. Wm. G. Bell
and Mr. Basil Edwards.
Evening Auxiliary
Miss Margaret Shepherd was host-
ess at her home on Monday evening
for the monthly meeting of the
Evening Auxiliary of the Hensall
United Church when a 'splendid
group of members and guests at-
tended. Miss Edna Saundereock very
ably assisted Miss Shepherd.Mrs, B.
Kyle presided. The singing of Christ-
mas carols featured the opening ex-
ercises, the following numbers being
used. "Joy to the world" and "While
Shepherds Watched" after singing
the hymn "There's a song in the
air" the minutes were read. In re-
sponse to the roll call a lovely col-
lection of Xmas gifts was received
for distribution to the Protestant
Orphanage, London. Miss Saunder-
cock read the scripture lesson after
which Miss Gladys Luker led in
prayer. Miss Ellis presented an ap-
propriate devotional in keeping with
the Xmas season , "For God so loved
the World."
Misses Shepherd and Goodwin
ferecl to pack the gifts and ship
same. The nominating committee,
Mrs. Kyle, Mrs.- Shaddlck and Mrs.
Passmore presented the following
