Children's Hospital in London of
Tuesday for treatment on his arm.

Mrs. Harvey Dolmage had a major
operation in Scott Memorial hospital
last Wednesday and is getting along
nicely.

they are visiting Mr. Beattie's sister
Mrs. George Michie at Belgrave and
his brother Stewart at Wingham.
IVIr. and Mrs.. Eldon Kerr and Mr.
and Mrs. Mac Scott returned from a
motor ,trip to Northern Ontario and
Toronto.
BRUCEFIELD
A very pleasant evening was
spent on Tuesday, Oct. '212nd, at the
home of 1VIrs. Stewart. Baird, when
a number of friends and neighbors
gathered to honor the bride -elect,
Miss Barbara Graham. The bride
was seated in a chair decorated with
pink, white and blue streamers,
games and contests were enjoyed.
The address was read by Grace
Dalrymple and a pretty wagon
loaded with gifts was drawn in by
Joan McCowan and 'Orrin' Baird.
Barbara expressed her thanks for
the many beautiful and useful gifts,
after which a dainty lunch was
served.

sop and Mrs. A. Elliott, Thursday.
Quilting was the order of the day.
After closing the meeting by repeat-
ing the members' prayer in unison,
a sumptuous dinner was served by
the hostesses.

Sunday on Mrs. Eliza (Smith,
Mr. and Mrs. Lee McConnell
motored, Saturday, to. Wellington, to
spend the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Percy Johnston. e Mrs. A. Mc-
Connell accompanied them to Tor-
onto,
Mrs. Horner in company with her
daughter were Sunday guests at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Ings
Mr. Clayton and Roy Elliott;
spent the weekend in Brantford with
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Elliott.
ZONE FORESTER LOCATED
AT STRATFORD
Mr. W. A. G. 'Thurston, Zone
Forester for the Ontario Depart-
ment of Lands and Forests is located
for the present at 21 Downie Street,
S'trntford. The area under Mr.
Thurston's supervision includes the
counties of Huron, Perth and Ox-
ford.
This new appointment has been
made to enable the Department to
give better service to these coulities.
Anyone wishing advice on the plant-
ing.of forest trees or on the man-
agement of farm woodlots should
get in touch with this office. Educa-
tional work carried on through
schools, the press, and other organ-
izations is also a part of the 'Zone
Forester's duties.

on Thursday afternoon.

The regular meeting of the WJVI. LONDES
S. was held in the schoolroom of the
Church, Thursday afternoon, Oct.
31st Mrs. E. Adams taking charge.
Theme. "In Christ -like Lives". A
few questions were asked and an-
swered on the theme..Prayer; from
the Missionary Monthly. Hymn,
"Jesus calls us o'er the tumult. Mrs.
E. Adams read, "As Church mem-
bers we have a Hard Calling." As
Paul says in his Epistle to the Ephe-
sians. Mrs. 'Clarence Montgomery
gave a scripture reading. Ephesians
4, 1-15; also, Mrs. Earl Lawson, the
Philipians 3, 12-13-14 and Gala-
tians 5, 22-23-25. We sang "What a'
Friend we have in Jesus. A. commit-'
tee for the slate of officers for the
November meeting was organized,
Mrs. Chas. Dexter and Mrs. Donald
Buchanan gave a report from the
sectional contention held in Walton,
Oct 24. Mrs. Leo. Stephenson gave
an interesting story from the two
chapters in the study book. Hymn "I
must needs go Home by the Way of
the Cross". Mrs. E. Adams gave a
reading entitled "'lige Guideth Me".
We had a hymn, "Who is on the
Lord's Side". Mrs. Clarence Mont-
gomery ' closed the meeting with
prayer' and the collection was re-
ceived. -

Ray and Elaine, spent the week end
in Detroit, guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Messerschmidt.
Mr. and Mrs. Alf Dykeman of
Port Credit visited the foriner's
father Mr. Henry Kleber, who is
sick at his home.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Klein and Betty
of Detroit spent a few days with
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Smith,

have been visiting with Mr. and
Mrs, Milton Eicknieir in Detroit.

spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs.
Alvin Rose at Point Edward. •
Mrs- Howard Querengesser has
received the sad news of the death
of her father, Walter Case, in Weni-
bly, England, in his 67th year.
Mrs: Howard Querengesser spent
several days in Kitchener.
KIPPEN EAST.
Mrs. Norman Long was hostess to
a hallowe'en masquerade party for
the Kipper East W. I., on Oct. 30th.
She was assisted by Mrs. Watson.
The costumes were many and varied
and some were very clever. The.
evening started with a grand march.
Winners for best costumes were:
First prize, Mrs. W. Doig; second,
Betty . Lou Watson; third, Mrs.
James McLean. Mr. Albert Alexand-
er and Mr. Norman Long w ere the
judges. There were several contests.
Pinning the tail on the donkey, was
won by Mrs. Watson. There was a
balloon relay and Mrs. W. Kyle's
being the winning side. The soda
biscuit eating contest was won by
Mrs. Tom Kay. Then followed- com-
munity singing, Arrangements were
made for a euchre and dance to be
.held in Hensen town hall on Fri -
Nov. 15th. Ladies are asked to brine
lunch. A short course on sewing is
to be held at the home of Mee. _A.
Vailey in week starting :Monday.
Nov. 1311 and each day until the
22nd. The meeting will start at 10
o'clock each n=ornine until 4 in the
afternoon, The ladies tatting this
course must provide for' theinsel'ves
a thimble, sharp sheers, thread;'
needles, a good pattern and mater-
ial. The ladies will take lunch. This
course is open to any lady in the
community.
