his 'home in Winthrop for a number
of years has moved his house to
Seaforth where he intends to reside.

been resumed. These services are at

Mr. and Mrs. Janes Inglis of
Acton spent Sunday with Mr. E.
Haase and Mrs. Horne. Mr. Haase's
mother, Mrs. M. Haase has come to
spend some time with them.
Mr. Glen Haase of London called
on friends in the village, Saturday.
TUCKERSMITH
The September meeting of the
Ladies' Club was held at the home
of Mrs. W. Roberts, with the Presi-
dent, Mrs. W. Pepper, officiating.
Roll call showed a goodly number of
ladies present, and was answered by
"The household task I dislike the
most." The most popular answer
being "Ironing". Letters of thanks
from different members were read.
A short program was given consist-
ing of readings by Mrs. Fear and
Mrs. Landsborough. A social hour
was spent, followed by a pot -luck
supper, Mrs. Roberts being assisted
by the Social Committee. The Octo-
ber meeting is to be held at the
home of Mrs. J. Landsborough.

Windsor over the week end attending
a wedding.

Mrs. Ruby Crowell has returned af-
ter spending the past two weeks at
the home of her daughters Mt and
Mrs Percy Holle St. Jacobs, and Mrs.
Gerald Hulbert New Toronto,
Mt and Mrs. M. E Clarke left last
week to spend three weeks at Mista-
tim, Sask.; their son, Mr. Ernest
Clarke, who spent the summer months
at a missionary field there, will re-
turn with them,"

on Friday.
Miss Evelyn Cardno attended the
Corllish'Hamilt'on wedding in -Crom-
arty on Saturday.
Mrs. George Smith, Port Stanley,
was a visitor at the home of her dau-
ghter and son -iii -law, Mr. and Mrs.
L. J. Sorrente on Monday.
Mrs. Frank Devereaux and Mr. and
Mrs. Francis Devereaux, Port Hope,
are visiting with relatives in Detroit
this week.

ed to New Toronto after spending her
summer holidays with her grand-
mother Mrs. R. Crowell.

lucci, Detroit, were week end guests
at the home of the former's brother,
Mr. Charles Hagan, and Mrs. Hagan.
Miss Rose Scalisi has returned to
Woodstock after being a guest at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Phillips
for the past week,
Mr. Arthur McGavin of Reading,
Pa., spent a few days last week with
Mr. and Mrs. John McGavin and Miss
Mary McGavin, Tuckersmith. Dr. and
Mrs. E. H. McGavin of Windsor spent
the week end.
Mr, and Mrs. Gordon Little and
family, Galt, spent the week end at
the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Alex Lowry.
Miss Eileen, Aiusborough has re-
turned to Toronto after spending a
few days with friends in town.

Wednesday alter spending a few days
with Mrs. Ada Reid and Miss Gal-
braith.

been spending her vacation with her
father Rev. James Elford, returned on
Monday to resume her ditties as Aca-
demic Head Mistress of the Hewlett
School, East Islip, Long Island, 'N.Y.
Miss Florence Elford of Sarnia Re-
serve School, spent the week end with
her father, Rev. Jas. Elford,
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Cudmore and
family have returned to their home in
St. Catharines after spending the past
week at the home of Mrs. Cudnrore's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Oke.
Rev. and Mrs, Troyer of Toronto
spent a few days last week with Mr,
Troyer's cousins, Sir. and Mrs. Cecil
Oke of the ICippen Road.

W.M.S. Meet
The W.M.S. of St, Andrew's
United Church niet on. Wednesday
afternoon for their Sept. meeting,
in the 'Sunday school room, The pre-
sident Mrs. Ilirnre Chipchase presid-
ed and the meeting opened by read-
ing 723 in the hymnary, in unison,.
Hymn 21 was sung and Mrs. Chip -
chase led in prayer. The new study
book on India was introduced after
which Mrs. Hinton read a very in-
teresting article on Christian stew-
ardship. Mrs. Forsyth led in prayer.
The scripture reading, Ephesians 2,
was read by Mi.'s. Chipchase. Mrs.
Edgar McBride had charge of the
topic—the first chapter in the new
study book, "I'tn proud of India".
The meeting closed by singing hymn
252 and prayer by Mrs. Chipchase.
Lunch was served 'by circle No. 2.
Mrs Robt Elgie offered her home
for the October meeting.
Hillsgreen United Church are
holding their anniversary on Sunday
next Sept. 15th at 11 a.m. and 7:30
p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev.
A. W. 'Gardiner of Egmondville.
Special music will be furnished by
ICippen choir.

of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Appleby in
McKillop.
Mrs. Jennie Knox and grand-
daughter little Elizabeth Marshall,
left for Toronto last Thursday
where the former expects to spend
the winter with her daughter and
husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Mar-
shall.

McGregor left for the West 011
Tuesday, we hope they enjoy their
trip.
The school teachers of this neigh-
borhood are back to their respective
schools for the coining year. Mr.
Wm. Leiper, where he taught . be-
fore going to the war. Miss Helen
McGregor to St. Catharines and Mr's
Watson Reid and Mrs. Arthur Col-
son where they taught last year.
Miss Jessie Watt having passed
the Entrance started to Seaforth
High School on Tuesday.
Mrs. Jack McEwing and baby boy
returned home from Seaforth hos-
pital the middle of last week.
Mr. Leo Watt and neighbors and
friends turned in Last week and got
Mr. Robert Watson's grain in and
thrashed.
Mr. and Mrs, Wnm, Pepper and
children of near Brucefield visited
on Sunday 'at the home of her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. McEwing.
Some from this neighborhood at-
tended the presentation party in
Londesboro hall on Friday night of
last week, to Mr. and Mrs. Clifford
Saundercock and bride, who very re-
cently arrived in Canada,
CONSTANCE
Regular meeting of W.M.S. was
held in schoolroom of the church,
Thursday afternoon Sept. 5th, Mrs.
E. Adams, President, took charge
and opened the meeting' by use of
hymn "Just as 1 atn without one
plea". Theme, Fellowship with Indi-

Mrs. P. Lindsay and Mrs. E. Adams'

ward his servants". Mrs. Leo Ste-
phenson gave a splendid story from
study book, title of chapter being,
Partners. Mrs. Adams closed with
Prayer from study book, W.A. then
took charge.
ST. COLUMBAN
The monthly meeting of the C.W.
L. was held in the parish hall with a
good attendance. 11 The president
opened the meeting with prayer. The
minutes as read were adopted. Priz-
es were awarded to ten pupnls who
were successful in passing the en-
trance examinations. Mrs. Joseph
Feeney and Mrs. John A. Murphy
were appointed as delegates to the
Diocesan Convention to be held in
Chatham, Oct. 15 -17th. The treas.
report showed a balance of $75.59.
A donation was made for flowers for
the altar for the Forty Hours De-
votions. Arrangements were made
for a dance to be held early in Oc-
tober. The meeting closed with
prayer.
HILLSGREEN
Anniversary Services will be held
in Hillsgreen United Church on
Sunday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. and
7:30 p.m. The Rev. Mr. Gardiner of
Egmondville will be the speaker at
both services. The Kippen choir as-
sisted by Mrs. Harry Hess of Zurich
will furnish the music for the day.
