Mr. and lairs, Dan O'Connor of Dub-
lin celebrated their fortieth wedding
anniversary Saturday, "Aug. 10,..anc1
Sunday, Aug. 11. With them at this
gala celebration• were their eight
children and eleven grandchildren:
Mr. and Mrs, James O'Connor and two
children of Dublin, Mr. and Mrs. Don-
ald 'Miller (Mary) and two children
Ann Arbor, Mich., Sister Mary Daniel
(Rose) and Sister Mary Concessa
(Carrie), both of London; Mr, and
Mrs. Joseph O'Conner and three clhild-
rbn of "Toronto, Mr, and Mrs. Tames
Conway (Agnes) and two children of
Detroit, Mich„ Mr. and Mrs,Dave
Falconer (Veronica) and two child-
ren of St. Catherines, Ont:, and Mr.
Norman O'Connor, who lives at home.
A studio couch was presented to Mr,
and Mrs. O'Connor Saturday evening
at the dinner. Another surprise for.
their parents was a large cake read-
ing "Happy Anniversary Mother .&
Dad," served at the Sunday family
dinner with ice cream. Group pictures
were taken and games played in the
course of the afternoon, after which
the children left for their respective
homes except Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Miller, who remained for several
days. Mrs, Donald Miller is superin-
tendent of the Bayer Hospital, Ypsi-
lanti, Michigan.

'A pleasant afternoon was spent at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mc-
Kellar on Tuesday of lastweek when
some seventy descendants of the late
Mr. and Mrs. James Scott (Mrs. Mc-
Kellar's parents) held a picnic on the
McKellar lawn. Relatives were pres-
ent from New York City, Hamilton,
Woodstock, Woodbridge, Plattsville,
Tavistock and Kirkton. Mr. Joseph
Worden was the oldest member pre-
sent and Peter, the little son of Dr.
and Mrs. Scott of Hamilton, was the
youngest member.

Phyllis Johnston has returnedhome
to Wellington after spending the past
month with relatives at Varna.

Northside United Church was
adorned with yellow, and white
gladioli on Tuesday, August 20th
for the marriage of Lillian Maxine
Lawrence, daughter. of Mr. and Mrs.
Herald F. Lawrence, to Cecil Lorne
Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. W.
Moore of Prescott, Rev, H. V. Work-
man officiated. Mrs. J. A. Stewart
presided at the organ, and Miss Lois
Whitney sang "The Lord's Prayer"
and "Through the Years" Given in
marriage by her father the '•bride
wore a dress of ivory net and lace
over white satin fashioned with a
full bouffant skirt with ruffles of
silk lace insertions. A fitted bodice
with tiny lace covered buttons
down the back, sweetheart neckline,
quaint 'puff sleeves and wearing
white silk mittens, full length veil
of ivory net with heart shaped
headdress of silk lace caught with
tiny gardenias and she wore a pearl
neck lace. The matron of honor, Mis,.
K. E. J. Doherty, sister of bride, was
gowned in pastel yellow net with
matching mittens. She carried a sun-
beam bouquet of yellow roses and
white asters and wore a matching
headdress.
Mr. E. B. Moore, Smith Falls, at-
tended his brother as groomsman,
and the ushers were Mr. N. E. J.
Doherty, Toronto, and Mr. M. W.
Moore, Prescott.
After the wedding the guests were
received at the home of the bride's
parents followed by dinner at North-
side United Church. Mrs. Lawrence
chose a lovely dress of apple green
crepe with sweetheart neckline' trim-
med with amber beads and gold
nailheads. Black accessories and cor-
sage
orsage of yellow roses completed her
ensemble. Mrs. Price Naylor, sister
of the groom in turquoise crepe, as-
sisted receiving.
For travelling the bride donned .a
suit of light blue wool, black acces-
sories and corsage of white roses.'
After a honeymoon in Eastern On-'
tario, Mr. and Mrs. Moore will resale
in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.
Guests were present from Prescott,
Toronto, Woodstock, Exeter and
Smith Falls.
Trousseau Tea
Mrs. Herald Lawrence entertained
in honor of her daughter Maxine,
on Friday afternoon and evening,
August 16th. Miss Lawrence re-
ceived with her mother. Pouring
tea in the afternoon was Mrs. B. M.
Francis, Exeter, and in the evening,
Miss Pearl Lawrence. Assisting in
the dining room during the after-
noon were Miss Muriel Rowe, Exeter
and Mrs. Wm. Campbell, Seaforth.
Miss A. C. Lawrence had charge of
the register and showing the gifts
were Miss Janet Hogg and Miss Joan
Devereaux; linens, were Mrs. Wm.
Shannon and Miss Janet Muff. Mrs.
Lorne S. Webster displayed the
trousseau. During the evening Miss
Lillian Southgate and Miss Gladys
Earle assisted in the dining room.
Prior to leaving the bank the
staff of the Canadian Bank of Com-
merce presented Miss Lawrence with
a silver entree dish. On wednesday
evening Miss Lillian Southgate en-
tertained a number of girl friends
at a miscellaneous shower in Max-
nie's honor and she received many
beautiful gifts.

CANVASS THIS WEEK
The canvass is taking place this
week to raise funds for the Legion
Memorial Hall and up to noon on
Wednesday between $1,500 and 82,000
had been subscribed. The objective
sought Is $6,000 and it is hoped that
this can be reached by the end of the
week, The canvass is being carried
out by members of the Seaforth
bra.neh of the Legion in Seaforth,
Tuckersmith and McKillop,
A window display is featured this
week at Sills' hardware store in con-
nection with the Legion canvass for
funds for - the Memorial Hall. The
north window is beautifully arranged
as a memorial to the boys from this
district who gave their lives in the
war, and the south window contains
numerous souvenirs of the war from
Italy, Northwestern Europe and the
Japanese war,

McBRIDE REUNION
The McBride reunion was held at
Jowett's Grove, Bayfield and over
100 sat down to a sumptuous picnic
supper. Friends were present from
Regina, Detroit, Windsor and Lon-
don. Mrs. Bert Sohnell from Regina
being present for the occasion.

The parsonage of Victoria street
United church was the setting for a
pretty double wedding on Wednes-
day, .August 14th, at 12 o'clock,
noon, when Wilmer Lyon MacGreg-
or' of Kipper was united in marriage
to Muriel Jane Racho of Egmond`
ville, and Stanley Earl Racho of Eg-
mondville was married to Catherine
Mary Green of Egmondville. The
brides wore long white dresses and
veils and each carried a bouquet of
roses. The couples were unattended.
The ceremony was performed by
Rev. George Murray, B.A., who is
supplying Victoria street United
Church during the month of August.
