Miss Helen McNaughton of Tor- onto, ' spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Mc Naughton. Mrs. Edna Corbett visited over the weekend at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker. Mr. Donald Walker of Toronto was a weekend visitor with Isis par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Walker. Misses June and Edna Sounder - cock returned home after a pleasant visit in Montreal with their sister, Mrs. Smith. Mr. Albert Dinnin of Toronto "visited over the holiday with his Parents, Mr. and,.Mrs. Wm. Dinnin. Mss .Margaret 'Glenn and Margar- et Shepherd are enjoying a pleasant holiday in Ottawa. A large number from Hensall at- tended the Old Boys' Reunion held at Hurondale on Monday, and all re- port a most enjoyable time. Miss Goddard of Ottawa was a weekend visitor at the home of her brother, Dr. J. C. Goddard and Mrs. Goddard. Miss Barbara Michie, teacher in the Primary Department of the Pub- lic school, left on Monday for Ot- tawa, where she will take a Summer Course. Misses Mildred Jones of Kitchener and Kathleen Jones of Toronto were weekend visitors with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Jones. Miss Mavis Spencer of Toronto :i-ited over the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs, Albert 'Spen- cer. Miss Margaret MacGregor and Miss Martha Heideman left on Sun- day for an extended trip to Western Canada. Mrs, Alpine McEwen and family and Mr. and Mrs. R. Petskie spent the weekend in Port Huron The pupils and ratepayers of S.S. 10, Hay held their annual pic- nic at Grand Bend on Saturday afternoon. Decoration Day Service was held on Sunday at Hensel). Union and MacTaggart's Cemetery. A short ser- vice was held at the Cenotaph first, conducted by theCanadian ,Legion members and the LO.O,F. The pupils and members of S.S. 1, Tuckersmith, held their annual pic- nic at Turnbulls Grove, on Satur- day afternoon. The annual Sunday school picnic of Carmel Presbyterian Church will be held at Turnbull's Grove on Wed- nesday, July 10th. Mr, Kenneth Passmore of King- ston spent the weekend at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Passmore. Misses Laura and Marion Sang- ster of London, spent the holiday weekend at their home here. Querengesser has receiv- ed his discharge from the army and has started work at the Dominion Tire office at Kitchener, on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Pryce of Galt, Mr. Stanley Byermann of Kitchener•, Mr. George Eisler who recently re- turned from overseas, and Mr, and Mrs, Wm. Ahrens, Mitchell, with Mr, and Mrs. Harry Byermann. LONDESBORO The Grandmother Cheerio Club held their regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. C. Beacom on Thursday, June 27th despite the humid hot day there was a good turnout. 'Meeting opened by all singing, When we all get ,together, and the Maple Leaf Forever,' fol- lowed by the Lord's Prayer in uni- son. Minutes ni-son.Minutes were read and approv- ed. Roll call was answered by your favorite flower. Other business was discussed and when concluded the, following program was given: Solo, Some folks do; duett by two of the grandmothers in old time 'costume sang "When you and I were young, Maggie," There was a guessing con- test between number's on how many buttons in a bottle. A mock wedding was staged by five of the grand- mothers, their names are fictitious. Mrs. G. McVittie played the wed- ding music. The room is decorated with baskets of peonies and fern. The bride, Miss ;Smantha Rose Mary Pepper), entered the room on the arm of her mother, Mrs. Martha Jane Pepper, She looked most charming in a white cashmere floor- length loorlength gown with a long train fitted basque and high neck line, also a long white veil with a cornet of orange blossoms 1(this dress was wont 42 years ago by Miss Mary Pearson, a bride). She carried an arm bouquet of pink and white peonies with fern. The brides moth- er wore a long plum colored. flow- ered gown and wore a bonnet which was worn 50 years ago, it 'being. trimmed with pink and white flow- ers. The matron of honor, aunt of the groom wore a brown silk dress with a bonnet to match the bride's mother. The groom, Joal Tobias Crabtree, looked radiant in his classy white trousers with the black swallow -tail coat. together with white gloves and the huge bow tie. watch chain, etc. The Rector, Rev, Timothy Mansfield conducted the wedding ceremony. After all was said and done a sumptuous sun- shine sisters banquet was enjoyed] when 20 grandmothers sat down to- gether. Toasts were given. Mrs. J. Fingland who proposed a toast, to the bride which was responded to by the groom with a few well chosen. words. A toast was proposed by Mrs. Manning to the three great grand- mothers, Mrs. Elizabeth Lyon, Mrs. J, Fingland and Mrs. Martha Lyon, who were all present. Mrs. (Rev.) Penman responded. The third toast was proposed by Mrs. Jennie Lyon to the king. All sang God save the king. The bride went on a honey- moon trip to Sir Frederick's Go- getter and Mrs. Gogetter's home on 1099 Space St., Petersville. The best wishes of the grandmothers go with them.
