London, spent Sunday with Mr. and

Mr. and Mrs. Matt. A. Lawrence
of West Vancouver, who have been
visiting at the home of his sister,
Mrs. Lorne S. Webster, left for
Toronto last Friday. Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence are on their way to Mrs.
Lawrence's former home in Prince
Edward Island. They left Vancou-
ver May lst and expect to be home
again about Sept. 15th.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Baisley of
Danbury, Conn. who have been visit-
ing Mrs. Baisley's coilsin, Lorne
Webster, left for their home on
Monday morning. While here they
attended the reception given Mr. and
Mrs. Lorne Webster on Thursday

Mr. Fred Broadfoot of Seattle, and
his nephew, Mr, John McArter of
Guelph visited friends here.
Mrs. James Mutrie of Vernon, B.C.,
has been spending a couple of weeks
with her brother, Mr. Alex Bethune,

ing Miss Davidson, for the summer.

CONSTANCE
The anniversary services held in
Constance United Church Sunday
16th was another milestone in the
church's history. The minister for
the day was Rev, A. W. Gardiner of
Egrnondville who gave two very able
addresses and very fitting for the
times. The Cromarty male quartette;
Messrs Scott, Allen,, Templeman and
Stagg, and accompanist, Mrs, Mc-
Kellar, provided the special music
for the day which was heartily en-
joyed
njoyed by all. They also assisted the
choir in the service of song. The
morning service was well attended,

afternoon, a goodly number were
kept away from the evening service.

The W.M.S. of Constance United
Church held their regular meeting
on Tuesday in the church. Opening'
the meeting was Mrs. Ernest Adams
in the chair. Hymn 516. Prayer was
offered by Mrs. William Britton and
2'Irs. Adams. Mrs, Lindsay gave an
interesting talk.
Mr, and Mrs. John Adapts and
Miss Lillian Adams and their father,
Mr. Henry Adams, of Londesboro,
and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Dale of
Seaforth, attended the Constance
anniversary on Sunday, and spent
the afternoon at the hone of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Dexter.
HULLETT
A pretty wedding took place at
home of Mr. and Mrs. William Hog -
gait, Clinton, at high noon Saturday,
June 15; when their youngest daugh-
ter Vera Isabelle, was united in mar-
riag to William Roy McVittie, only
son of Mr. and Mrs.. William McVit-
tie of R.R. 3, Blyth. The Rev. Harold
Snell, cousin of the bride, officiated
at the double wedding ring cere-
mony. Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a street -
length white Jersey dress with
shoulder length veil caught with
white flowers and wore gold ear-
rings, the gift of the groom. She
wore a corsage of American beauty
roses. Miss Marjorie McVittie, sister
of the groom was bridesmaid wear-
ing lime -jersey chess with shoulder
length veil caught'with lime flowers
and wore a corsage of pink roses.
Edward East of Auburn was best
man. Mrs. Harry Watkins, sister of 1
the bride, played the wedding music.
The bride's mother wore a pale blue
crepe dress and the groom's mother,
a figured jersey. Both wore a cor-
sage of pink carnation. Mrs. Annie
Brown, grandmother of the bride
wore a black dress with corsage of
white carnations. The reception for
25 guests was held in the dining -
room which was prettily decorated
in pink and white and the table cen-
tred with the 3 storey wedding cake.
The assistants were Misses Anna
Reid, Fern Yungblut and Eileen
Miller. The groom's gift to the
bridesmaid was a gold necklace, to
the best man, a cigarette lighter and
to the pianist ear -rings. Later the
happy couple left by motor on a trip
to. Niagara Falls, Crystal Beach and
other places, the bride wearing a
brown coat with accessories. On their
return they will reside on the
groom's farm in East Wawanosh.
