IMr, Milton Ortwein of London
spent the weekend with his mother.
Mrs, J. W. Ortwein,
Mrs. T, McDonald and Miss Mar-
guerite McDonald visited with rela-
tives in London, on Monday.
The May meeting of the Evening
Auxiliary. of Hensall United Church
was held in the school -room of the
church on Monday evening with
members of the W.'MI,S. as guests.
The roll call was responded to by
naming a Canadian patriot, . Miss
Gladys Luker, played quiet music
during the receiving of the offer-
ing, Mrs. Passmore had charge of
the devotional period which was
centred about the theme Patriotism.
Audrey Walsh favonsed the group
with two musical numbers. The
guest speaker, 'Mrs.. MacKay, field
secretary for the W.C.T,U. gave a
very interesting address on "The
Christian Home," Arrangements
were made for a picnic which is to
be held, on June 26th at the home of
Mrs; E. Shaddick. The meeting con-
ducted by singing "Softly and Tend-
erly Jesus is calling" and the Mizpah
Benediction. Refreshments were
served,
Mrs. Dabus
Mrs, Wm, Dabus passed away in
Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth,
on Thursday evening following a
lengthy illness. She had been a resi-
dent of Hensel] for the past number
of years. Surviving is her husband,
two sons, Dan and Garfield, of Lon- I
don, and Detroit, and three grand-
children, one sister. Mrs. C. Huisser
of Hensall also survives. Funeral
service was held from Bonthron's
Funeral Home, on Saturday, con-
ducted by Rev. C. Hackendorn of
Zurich. Interment was in the Luth-
eran Cemetery at Zurich,
' Anniversary services will be held
in the Henson United Church on
Sunday. June 2nd. when Rev. Rich-
ards of Centennial United Church,
Lor.dnn. will be the enest speaker.
Miss Amy Laramie of London
spent the weekend at the home of
her mother. Mrs. Lamrnie and sister
Mie G*'eta Lennie.
Miss s Elizabeth Slavin, who has
'been confined to her room for the
pasttwo months was taken to Scott
Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, this
week for treatment.
Mr. Arthur Dinnin of Toronto
was a holiday visitor with his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dinnin.
Service at Carmel Presbyterian
Church was conducted by Rev. P. A.
Ferguson. on Sunday, when Messrs
Wm, R. Bell, Earn Campbell, Jas
Bengough, and Geo. Tinney were
inducted into the eldership of the
Church. Sacrament service will be
dispensed on Sunday June 9th at 11
a.m. Preparatory service on Friday
evening June 7th at 8 p.m. A com-
municants class will be held at the
Manse on Friday evening May 31st
at 8:80.
Funeral Service Held
Public funeral service for the late
Mr. J. W. Ortwein was held in Hen-
sall United Church on Wednesday
afternoon, conducted by Rev, R. A.
Brook, who paid' special tribute to
his life, his faith in God and his fine
qualities. in .his work, m the church;
home ,and community. Mr, Harry T.
Hoffman of Dashwood rendered an
appropriate solo "Wonderful Morn-
ing" Rev P A Ferguson and Rev.
Bright, of London assisted at the
service. 'Burial' was in Hensall Union
Cemetery. The .pallbearers were
Messrs W. R. Davidson,. Jas Siirihie,
George Hess. W. E. Foster, Oliver
and Elgin Rowcliffe. The flower
bearers were Messrs Mervyn Brown,
Edgar McQueen, Garnet Case, W. B.
Cross, T. J. Sherritt and T. C. Joynt.
Y. P. Meets
The final meeting for this season
for the Young People's Society of
Carmel Presbyterian Church was
held on Monday evening in the
school -room with Miss Margaret
MacGregor presiding and opened by
singing "We have heard a joyful
Sound," after which Mrs. A. Orr led
in prayer. The scripture was read by
Elmer Campbell. Arrangements were
made to hold a weiner roast at Turn -
bull's Grove, on Monday evening,
June 24th; Mrs. Charles Forrest
played a piano solo. A reading en-
titled "Glad to be at work in India
again" written by Miss Ellen Doug-
las was read by Mrs. Roy MacLaren.
Hymn "When the mothers of Salem"
was sung, Mr. A. Orr favoured with
saxaphone solos accompanied by
Mrs. Chas. Forrest at the piano. The
meeting closed by singing "We've a
Story to tell to the Nations" after
which Miss Audrey Dick led in
prayer. Refreshments were served.
Miss Joyce Scruton of Toronto
was a weekend visitor at the home
of her mother , Mrs. A. Scruton.
Mr, and Mrs, Allen Davidson of
Sarnia visited over the weekend
with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. W.
R. Davidson and Mr. and Mss. 0.

Dr. Norma Cook of Toronto,
spent the weekend with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Cook.
Mrs. Peter Buchanan of St.
Thomas visited over the holiday
with her sister and brother-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bell.
Mrs. Peter Liacomeau and Bonnie
of Windsor returned to their home
following a pleasant visit with the
former's parents, Mr. and. Mrs. O.
Twitchell.

Josiah Sararas
Josiah Sararas, well-known farmer
of Hay township on the Blue Water
highway, passed away suddenly at
his residence. He was born on the
Blue Water highway where he
farmed all his life. He was in his
74th year and was married to Ade-
line Miller 46 years ago. She sur-
vives, with two sons at home, Leon-
ard and Norman; a brother Manuel
on the Blue Water highway; Three
sisters, Mrs. Henry Wolper of Zur-
ich. Mrs. Ed Wilhelm of Stratford,
Mrs. Harry Taylor of Brucefield. In-
terment was in the Zurich Bronson
Line Cemetery.

A By -Law to provide for a curfew in the
Township of Tnckeremith.
WHEREAS,numerous complaints have . been.
received by the Council of the Township of
Tuckersmith in regard to children being on
the streets of the Village of Egmondvillc
after nine o'clock in the evening contrary
to the R,SaO, 1027, Ch. 279,, Sec, 15.
AND WHEREAS, considerable vandalism and
damage have been :caused by the said
children.
.AND WHEREAS, - the Council of the said
Township of Tuckersmith are of the
opinion that action should be taken to cor-
rect this situation.
THEREFORE, be it enacted and it ishereby
enacted
THAT all children 16 years of age and under
must be off the streets by the dour of nine
clock in the afternoon from April lst to
October 1st and by the hour of eight
o'clock in the afternoon from October 1st
to April 1st, unless accompanied' by a par-
ent or guardian or an adult appointed by
the parents or guardian to accompany such

John E. Constable
The death of John Ernest Consta-
ble occurred at his late residence,
Peel Street, St. Marys, following a
lengthy illness, He was born in Mc-
Killop Township son of the late Mr,
and Mrs. Albert Constable and was i
in his 68th year, He came to St.
Malys 20 years ago where he con-
ducted a motor sales and garage. He
leaves to mourn his wife, the former
Gertrude Grigg, one son. Thomas,
one daughter, Evelyn, both of St.
Marys; one sister, Mrs. David Hall,
of Ethel. Ont., and two grandchild-
ren. The funeral service was con
ducted by Rev. W. E. Aldworth. In-
