YOUNG PEOPLE'S LEAGUE:
The ""Alerts" and the "Live Wires"
of Northside United Church 4net in a
friendly game of softball at seven o'-
clock 'Tuesday evening. . Great exciter
meat .prevailed during the progress
of the game and some wonderful
plays were .made. At the conclusion
it was 'found that the 'Live Wires"
had won iijt_a narrow margin.
The ,program which 'followed in the
Sunday school roam was of a high
order. Miss Gladys McPhee read e
splendid paper. 'Mr. Arthur Goldring
delighted the members with a violin
solo. An interesting- dialogue was
given 'by Miss Margaret Rivers and
Miss Evelyn Harburn. (Come and en-

day'evetting o'f the death° of Mr. Wm.
!Lindsay, of !Bothwell. Mr. Lindsay
was a former resident of this village
for a good many year s and much
sympathy is extended to those he
leaves behind. He had !been in fail-
ing health foe some time, suffering
from diaibetes, !but death' came unex-
pectedly, as he had seemed much
improved of late. He was 'born 58
years ago and 'lived in Hullett until
going to :Bothwell about twenty years
ago. His wife, formerly Miss 'Mary
Staples, of iHullett, survives, with
one son and two daughters, Wilfrid,
at home; Airs. Munro (Janet), Both-
well; Mrs, Thompson (Hazel) of
Eastern Ontario. Three brothers
and one sister. also survive: Mr. Peter
Lindsay, Hullett; Bert, Saskatche-
wan; Alexander, Cleveland; Mrs. 3,
C. Dorrance, (Hope, North Dakota,
Ile was a .member of the Anglican
church and belonged to the 'F,orrest-
ers and the Masons, under whose
auspices the funeral on• Monday'' was
held, interment being made in Flor-
euce cemetery, : Mr. Peter Lindsay
and Mr. 'Wm.Staples (brother of
Airs. Lindsay) attended the funeral.
Quite a few from around the vil-
lage attended the funeral of (Mrs.
Ferguson, of Blyth, formerly Miss
Annie Pollard, of Kin'burn.

ed up on the grass opposite the home
of a prominent farmer. But for the
timely intervention of kindly neigh-
bors, this gent. might t hive had

The kind neigh'bor extinguished it
and left this poor fool to his slum-
