Death of Elias Blight, -There dted
at -the residence of Mr. Alfred Taylor
on Sunday Morning last, Elias Blight,
in his 74t'h'year. Mr, Blight had been

considerable wealth there, but had
made his home with Me. and 'Mrs.
Taylor here, The funeral was held

A meeting was held Tuesday even-
ing to make arrangements for the
national thanksgiving service to be
held in Hensel! Sunday afternoon,
July 3rd. This will be a nation-wide
service, celebrating the diamond ju-
bilee of Confederation. Mr. Goodwin
will look after the musical program,

ed the annual meeting of the Dean-
ery of Huron at Brussels on Wednes-
day last. They went on to Listowel
to visit Rev. and Mrs. T. B. Howard,
returning home Thursday, also at-
tended the induction service of Rev.
Mills in St. George's church, Gode-
rich Thursday evening. ,
Mr. and Mrs. H. McLaren and fa-
mily of Port Elgin spent 'Sunday with

massed choir, the different village
choirs to march in their vestments.
Every child in the school parade will
be given a small flag and a medal
that is being struck by the Dominion
condmittee. A number of the old pio-
neers of the district will be in the pro-
cession and will take part in the ser-
vice. Parade will consist of the massed
choirs of the village, all the lodges,
the council, the band, the old pioneers
and the school children. The pro-
gram for the afternoon is being sent
out by the National committee, and if
the weather is suitable, will be held
on the park grounds. Part of the
service will be in memory of those
whose lives have been given in their
cash. Constable Vvhitesides was on
the scene early Friday morning, but
as yet there is no clue to the thieves.
Luckily, Cook Bros. had a large ship-
ment of tires, which had not been
brought from the station.

our citizens were lucky enough to be
