was unroofed, 'and wrecked badly by
the heavy wind and rant. They also

fortune to lose a valuable cow one

nicely after her recent illness.
Mrs. Sandy Broadfoot, of the Mill
road, purchased a Chevrolet oar one

fortuile to have the top blown off his
car, while motoring last Tuesday.

spent Sunday with her family here.
AIr. Millard Robinson 'is visiting
friends in'Hespeler.
The village merchants intend ob-
serving their half holiday, of which
mention will be made later.

During the absence of 'Rev. Mr,
Barker the first two Sundays of
April, Rev. Dr. Brown occupied the
pulpit of 'Brussels United Church and
was much appreci'a'ted. Dr. and 'Mrs.
Brown were invited guests at the
reception tendered Rev. Mr, 'Barker
and bride by the congregation on
Friday evening, April 15th. The
event was a very happy one. After
congratulations, a beautifully worded
address was read 'by Mr, hoover to
(Rev. and Mrs, Barker and Mrs. Bark-
er was presented with a magnificent
bouquet of red roses. The tables
were centered with bouquets 'of tulips,
narcissus, daffodils, pussy •willows
and Easter lilies, and a banquet of
good 'things 'was served to the large
number present. Very favorable re-
ports of the different organizations
of the church were given, taking the
form of an annual. meeting. Solos,
duets, choruses and readings were in-
terspersed, "making it a most enjoy-
able and profitable evening.
