Death of Donald Grassick..—Hu-
sail is again called on this week to
Mourn the loss of one of its oldest
and best known citizens in the person
of Donald Grassick, who passed away
at his home here on Thursday morn-
ing last, aged 85 years. Mr. ,Grassick
was born, in Scotland and for years
farmed on,the second concession of
Stanley, About 20 years ago his son
James took over the farm, and Mr.
and Mrs. Grassick moved to Hen -
sail and have resided here since. Mr.
,Grassick took a great interest in
sports, especially bowling, and he
was a well known figure on our local
green. He was an unusually well in..
formed man, and kept himself well
posted on current events. He was a
member of the Pre,sbyterian church
and a Liberal in politics. ;Besides his
now sorrowing widow he leaves to
mourn his loss two sons and two dau-
ghters, James who was on the home-
stead in Stanley for a good many
years, but who sold out last year and
moved to Exeter, and Charles who is
teaching ,school in New Ontario, and
with his wife attended the funeral.
The two daughters are Mrs. Geo.
Walker, of - Tuckeromith township,
and Mrs, David Ferguson, of Toron-
to. The funeral was held from his
late residence, South Richmond street,
on Saturday afternoon and was fol-
lowed to his last resting place in
'Baird's cemetery- by a large number
of old friends and neighbors, especial-
ly from Stanley township.

A gloom was cast over the village
when the news spread about the
death of little George McFarlane, 10
years of age, eldest son of Mr. and
Mrs. David :McFarlane, who was ac-

his little brother John were on the
roller, when the horses ran away, kill-
ing George instantly and seriously
injuring John, who had to have sev-
eral stitches put in to close his
wounds. He is in a very serious con-
dition. Our deepest sympathy goes
out to his parents, brothers and sis-
ters, who are left to mourn the loss
of a loving son and brother.

To Owners of Autom.obiles
and Trucks
Lights, brakes and steering gear must be kept
ha good condition for the safety of driiers and
others on the road.
▪ EGARDING the physical condition of automobiles
• and trucks, The Highways Traffic Act makes certain
provisions which motorists would do well to Understand
and observe.
It is increasingly necessary that these provisions should
be stringently maintained in view of the great increase in
tourist traffic on our highways, the increase last year of
40,000 cars in Ontario and the more extended use of comets?
roads by our own people. The new speed limit recently
authorized by the Legislature adds to this necessity.
Car and truck owners are urged to checic their machines
frequently and to renew parts which are worn or broken.
Headlights should be adjusted regularly: Glaring
lights are against the law and a menace to traffic. Simple
instruction t for the adjustment of headlights and a list of
lenses approved by the department, may be obtained free
by writing the Motor Vehicles Branch, Department of
Highways, Toronto.
If your lenses are not among those mentioned on the
list, it would be well to have them changed at once if you
wish to avoid accident on the road and penalty in court.
Brakes and steering gear should be m perfeet cotidi. -
tion so that when called upon each part will respond to
the will of the driver.
The law provides that license numbers must be clean
and so placed as to be easily read. A fundamental in
the control of motor traffic is that each machine shall be
quickly identified.
It is the intention of the Department of Highways
to take note of the condition of automobiles Using the
roads. To avoid inconvenience' to motorists, attention is
drawn to the necessity for rigid obedience of the law, -and
the penalties for neglect.
