Hallett '011.Sunday, Jan. 16th, ate be-
came suddenly 111 and 'on Monday was
removed to the .Seaforth 'hospital,
where. he was successfully 'operated
upon for appendicitis. lllut unfortun-
ately, measles developed later, fol.
!'owed by pneumonia and on the fol.
lowing' Tuesday he passed away.
Though only 18 years of age, he, had,
during his short life, won the' highest
regard of everyone who knew him,
,for he'daily exemplified in 'his Life a
noble, generous nature and his death
is •a great l'oss, it'ot only to those near.
•es't and dearest, but also to the ;whole
commu'uity where he. was •a general
favorite and beloved, by all for his
bright and: kindly disposition. The.
funeral, which was private, took. place
from his home on Thursday afternoon
to the place 'of interment in the Mait-
land 'Bank cemetery, the services 'be-
ing `oonductecl'by the 'Rev: Mr, Lane,
of Seaforth. The padl-bearers were
his boy friends, Ivan MdArthur, Ste -
waft 'Dale, Wilfred Penfound, Wil-
liani Wright,. Fergus `'Wright and

mourn his loss, dais father, mother,
one brother Robert, anct ,two ;sisters,
Evelyn and Marjorie,'- to ;whom will 'be
extended the most heartfelt sympathy

Barn Burned,.- fire broke out
shortly before 9 •o'elock Tuesday
night in Alexander Cameron's barn,
just northeast of 'the village, complete-
ly destroying it and the contents.
Miss Elizabeth Cameron, who resides
with her father, who is 37 years of
age, was coming out of the house to
go clown town when she noticed the
fire in the upper part of the barn, and
quickly got some hens out and gave
the alarm. A large crowd gathered,
but the tflre spread so' rapidly none
of the contents could be saved, These
con's'isted of some implements of Mr.
William ;Higgins; 2 mowers, binder,
cultivator, land roller, hay rake, trail-
er, 10 tons of hay anti straw, There
was some insurance nn both barn
and, 'contents, The cause of the fire
is unknown. The high wind 'fortun-
ately blew the flames away from the
hoose, which was quite close to the
barn, and would have been en easy
prey to the flames.
