fine Meeting 'the K. a-1. S. had last -
Monday night . in the school room of
the church. The room Was comfort=
ably 'flled and the first hour kept
everybody y busyt
y nalciug out what
flowers and' freits and vegetables
were walling about all around them.
The prize winner was Mrs. Monteith,
with Mrs. Hugh ;,'rcGrdgor and Mrs.
?, W. 'McLean close seconds, In the
absence of the President, Mr. Wil-
liam Rvison, in Toronto, Mrs. Mon-
teith called the meeting .,„ order . and
the minutes of the last meeting and
the Seery -Treasurer's report for the
year 1926 were read and adopted.
The Society has had a good year -94
'members, a well -attended lecture in
'Alpril by Mr...I3. J. Moore, a grand.
flower -show in August, total ,receipts
for the year of $279, : •trees; shrubs,
plants and +bulbs, amounting to $193
purchased, and a balance on hand of
$57. The year •was•'begun with a bal-
ance from 1925 of $38. The society
gives every member $1.25 worth for
the membership •fee of $1.00 and can
do this on account of'the Govern-
ment grant, which this year amount-
ed; to $31. Take into account the fact
that the Society gets front the nurs-
eries and , gives to 'the' members
wholesale rates and the $1.25 worth
is really about $2.00 worth. So it is
good business to belong. to the K.
H. S. The reports were followed
with .the election of officers which re-
sulted as follows: Pres., Mr, !Willia.m
Ivison; 1st Vice Pres., Mrs. A. Mon-
teith; 2nd Vice Pres., Mrs. J D. Ste-
wart; Sec y-Treas., Mrs. R. A. Lundy
with assistants, Miss M.: R. Whitman
and Mrs. 'J. W. McLean. Directors
elected now for two years, Mr. Mon-
teith, Mrs. Mustard, Mrs. J. W. Mc-
Lean, Mrs. 1Bowey, Mrs. Lundy.
(The five elected last year for two
a years were Miss Jennie Chesney; Mr.
W. French, Mrs. Jas. Finlayson , Miss
to'Jean Ivison. Miss M. R. Wltitntan)
A
uditoi•s, Jas. ,Bowey and W, :L
Mellis, were re-elected. 'Delegates to
the Ontario Horticultural Society
Convention to be held in Toronto
Feb. 10th and llth are' Mr, Wm Ivi
son and Miss Jean Ivison or Miss
Helen Hinsdale (as substitute). After
.the business was ,finished, Christmas
'cake, oranges, bananas and apples
were served. The officers and di-
rectors arranged to meet Tuesday,
Jan. 11th at the home of Miss Whit-
man to get out the premium lists for
1927. An effort is to be made to
have these lists printed and in the
'hands of the members by Jan. 17th
so that they may make their choices
and send them, in to the secretary in
time to have the orders away before
Feb. lst and ley so doing take advan-
tage of very special rates. This So-
ciety is a co-operative affair. Let
every one 01 the 94 .members think
not only of the benefit of membership
to himself but to the other 93 and to
the whole community and be prompt
to join up 'for 1927. If you are
thinking of..ordering extra stock to
the value of $1.00, take out a second
membership in your family and get
$1.25 worth for that dollar too.
"Careful and continued observation
proves unntistakab•ly that homes with.
gardens are one of the finest assets
it is possible for any community to
possess."
"Flowers iu our' homes and grow-
ing in quietness around our hoods
are a perpetual reminder that .man
lives in deeds, not years, that pure
and high ideals dignify and ennoble
human life and that that life alone is
worth while which has in it the ele-
ments of sweetness, beauty and
troth."

;Horticultural Society. -. lt. was a
fine Meeting 'the K. a-1. S. had last -
Monday night . in the school room of
the church. The room Was comfort=
ably 'flled and the first hour kept
everybody y busyt
y nalciug out what
flowers and' freits and vegetables
were walling about all around them.
The prize winner was Mrs. Monteith,
with Mrs. Hugh ;,'rcGrdgor and Mrs.
?, W. 'McLean close seconds, In the
absence of the President, Mr. Wil-
liam Rvison, in Toronto, Mrs. Mon-
teith called the meeting .,„ order . and
the minutes of the last meeting and
the Seery -Treasurer's report for the
year 1926 were read and adopted.
The Society has had a good year -94
'members, a well -attended lecture in
'Alpril by Mr...I3. J. Moore, a grand.
flower -show in August, total ,receipts
for the year of $279, : •trees; shrubs,
plants and +bulbs, amounting to $193
purchased, and a balance on hand of
$57. The year •was•'begun with a bal-
ance from 1925 of $38. The society
gives every member $1.25 worth for
the membership •fee of $1.00 and can
do this on account of'the Govern-
ment grant, which this year amount-
ed; to $31. Take into account the fact
that the Society gets front the nurs-
eries and , gives to 'the' members
wholesale rates and the $1.25 worth
is really about $2.00 worth. So it is
good business to belong. to the K.
H. S. The reports were followed
with .the election of officers which re-
sulted as follows: Pres., Mr, !Willia.m
Ivison; 1st Vice Pres., Mrs. A. Mon-
teith; 2nd Vice Pres., Mrs. J D. Ste-
wart; Sec y-Treas., Mrs. R. A. Lundy
with assistants, Miss M.: R. Whitman
and Mrs. 'J. W. McLean. Directors
elected now for two years, Mr. Mon-
teith, Mrs. Mustard, Mrs. J. W. Mc-
Lean, Mrs. 1Bowey, Mrs. Lundy.
(The five elected last year for two
a years were Miss Jennie Chesney; Mr.
W. French, Mrs. Jas. Finlayson , Miss
to'Jean Ivison. Miss M. R. Wltitntan)
A
uditoi•s, Jas. ,Bowey and W, :L
Mellis, were re-elected. 'Delegates to
the Ontario Horticultural Society
Convention to be held in Toronto
Feb. 10th and llth are' Mr, Wm Ivi
son and Miss Jean Ivison or Miss
Helen Hinsdale (as substitute). After
.the business was ,finished, Christmas
'cake, oranges, bananas and apples
were served. The officers and di-
rectors arranged to meet Tuesday,
Jan. 11th at the home of Miss Whit-
man to get out the premium lists for
1927. An effort is to be made to
have these lists printed and in the
'hands of the members by Jan. 17th
so that they may make their choices
and send them, in to the secretary in
time to have the orders away before
Feb. lst and ley so doing take advan-
tage of very special rates. This So-
ciety is a co-operative affair. Let
every one 01 the 94 .members think
not only of the benefit of membership
to himself but to the other 93 and to
the whole community and be prompt
to join up 'for 1927. If you are
thinking of..ordering extra stock to
the value of $1.00, take out a second
membership in your family and get
$1.25 worth for that dollar too.
"Careful and continued observation
proves unntistakab•ly that homes with.
gardens are one of the finest assets
it is possible for any community to
possess."
"Flowers iu our' homes and grow-
ing in quietness around our hoods
are a perpetual reminder that .man
lives in deeds, not years, that pure
and high ideals dignify and ennoble
human life and that that life alone is
worth while which has in it the ele-
ments of sweetness, beauty and
troth."
