Mrs, Benj, Snell received word last
week of the death of her another, Mrs,
John !Chapman, :at Chilliwac,
wlto passed away' suddenly -on Dec-
ember 27th, although she had been in.
failing health for some time. • The
late Mrs. Chapman was born at Au-
burn, Huron county, about 73 years
ago, being a daughter of one of the
early pioneers, Thomas Hoare, and
her maiden name was Miss 'Harriet
Hoare. Upon her marriage- to Mr.
Chapman fifty years ago in March,
they set out to found a home in Bri-
tish Columbia, having an ardpous
journey with their helongings',through
the State of Nevada to San 'Fran -
.cisco, up the 'Pacific coast by boat
and then by river boat to their des -
filiation at Ghi1liwac, ,B.C., where
they, had since lived in the midst of
what has become a most prosperous
farming community: ;Besides her hus-
band she is survived by seven chil-
dren, Mrs. Benj. Snell, of /Hellett;
John, of Chitliwae; Mrs. ;Robert Py
bus, Lardner, B.e.; Frank and •Davis,
Chilliwao;' Mrs. Geo. Snell, Oyen, Al-
berta; and Norman, Chilliwae. An-

week. The meetings on Tuesday and
urednesday evenings were 'held in
Northside church, the addresses be-
ing given by the .Egmondvitle molls-
ter. In addition 'to the regular ser-
viee on Tuesday evening, a very fine
set of slides, illustrating our Mission
Work in .British •Guiana. were thrown
on the 'screen, .The Thursday acid

in •Egmondville church and the ad-
dresses given by Rev. Mr. Lane.
Both in point of attendance and in-
terest, the meetings were excellent,
and once more demonstrated the 'vis -

all congregations should adopt this

'On Monday evening 'text under the
auspices of 'the Young People's So-
ciety, 'Rev. !Duncan McTavish of
James St. Church, Exeter, will give
his splendid lecture, "The Luggage
of Life." R'Vherever Mr, McTavish lyre
delivered this lecture it has been en-
thusiastically received. It is a mix-
ture of humor and. pathos. Sense and
noutsense and is "both instructive and
entertaining. A very hearty invite -
.ton is extended to all friends of the
congregation to be present.

People's ,Society meeting was . in
charge of .the Missionary department,
Miss Jean Smith being at the head.
Miss Billy Chesney- occupied the
chair as the latter was unavoidably

The entertainment and 'box social
held at S. S. No. 2, McKillop, on the
evening of Dec. 31st was a decided
sttccess. The progeamtne, which con-
sisted of songs, readings, solos, dia-
logues and •recitations, was put on by
pupils and local talent and showed
perseverance and ability .on the part`
of the teacher, Miss. Medd, Mr. and

The officer; of the Bayfield Agri-
cultural Society have set the dates
for the fall fair this year Tuesday
and 1Veduesday, September 27 and 28.
The annual meeting of this Society is
to he 'held on Wednesday, January
19t11 in the lawn hall. All members
are requested to be present as the of-

gestions that Might be offered in the
way of improving the fair.
A very sad and sudden death took

when 'Robert John, youngest son of
John and Myrtle Parker. passed away
after a day's Elhtess. Little Jackie
WAS a very bright and attractive child,

.he greatly missed by every one. The
