"In considering the auditor's stun -

Howett - Sanderson — A quiet but
pretty wedding took place at the

was united itt marriage to Mr, John
George Howett, son of Ivir, and Mrs.
William J. Howett, Hullett, the cere-
mouy being perfortned by 'Rev. Dr,
Darnley. They were unattended. Af-
ter the ceremony, the happy couple
left by the afternoon train for a short
trip to London and other points.
Upon their return they will reside on
the groom's fare, 5th concession,
East Wawanosh. The groom's gift
to the bride was a pearl and amber

and Mrs. ,Howett join in extending

Road Matters.
The second report of the Good
Roads Commission was as follows:
Re motion of " Messrs. Munnings
and Robertson 'regarding expendi-
tures on county roads in the Town of
Goderich, we recommend that all the
connecting links in the towns the de-
signated as county roads and the
totvns placed lots the same basis as
the villages in this regard.
Re motion of Messrs. Farris'h and
Johnstone regarding maintenance of
township roads used as detours; we
recommend that the county under-
take the repair of these roads in the
spring of 1.927, and place them in as
good condition as they were 'before
tate 'traffic detoured.
Re motion of 'Messrs. Coultes and
Shortreed, we recommend that the
Deipartment of Highways be request-
ed to increase the subsidy on roads
carrying bus traffic, and that 'the
County of Bruce he asked to present
a similar request.
We recommend that railway cross-
ing 'signs 'be erected in the county
roads 300 feet on each side of railway
iittersections, in accoril'ancc with the
recommendation of the Department
of Public Highways.

Erwin the Warden •was asked to va-t
cite the chair and IMr. 'Hayes ''was,
asked to take it. Mr. Hayes -madc a
bright speech and called on several
of the coun'cil, who spoke in high
terms of praise of the ability of 'the'
Warden, Messrs. McQuaid and-'Gei-1
ger spoke briefly in complimentary
terms of the Warden's ability in the l'i
discharge of his duties. The chair-
man then called on the county'coun-
cil's Imperial Quartette, composed of
Messrs. 'Erwin, Sanders, Dodds and
Kiopp, who delighted all with their
splendid selections. Mr. Necb stpolce
and then Mr. Coultas read•.a very flat-
tering address:

Once more the time has arrived -when
we must disband as a couy council,
and with it 'comes the time when we
must sever our relationships as coun-
cil and 'Warden,i' The •genial, courte-
ous, ' straightforward :business -like
manner in which you have performed
the many duties in connection with
this office •makes this an event of sor-
row mingled with extreme sa'tisfacr
tion, sorrow that so efficient a muni-
cipal head is limited Co•a term of one
year, attd satisfaction that so far as
you are concerned it has been a year's
work well done, The enthus'iasm
with which you have approached all
the duties in connection with your of,
fice as Warden has proved to us 'be-
yond • a shadow of a doubt that in
your veins courses the blood of a true
patriot and that you have a real pas-
sion for the welfare of the county and
province in which you live. Your alb-
ilty to preside over the meetings of
this board in 'a manner entirely void
of 'any. harshness 'rrying
you a' sunshine whichand carrying
smoothedwith
many a ruffle in the past year has
raised you to a very high position in
the esteem not'only of the members
af.this board but with all the officials
with whom you have worked, and we
all join in thanking your municipality
for again making your services avail-
able to this county. We extend to
you and your noble wife and to your
family our very best wishes for a long
and happy life and 'beg you to accept:

called on and spoke very. apprecia-
tively of the year's warden, Mr. Mc -
Ribbon. The Imperial Quartette then
favdred the council 'with another sel-

briefly and then all arose and sang
