--Turf Association 'held in the Carnegie -

The weatherman has been display-
ing all bis wares this week—maybe

was a beautiful day; the rest of the
week was snowy and !became very
cold 'Saturday night and Sunday.
Many car radiators and kitchen

In this district the snow was not as

Ontario, and autos were able to get
around without difficulty. Monday
was milder and Tuesday afternoon

U. F. 0. ANNUAL MEETING
The Seaforth U. F. -0. Club held its
annual !meeting in Carnegie Library
Hall on ;Thursday, Dee, 2nd. Owing
to a number of adverse circumstances
a small lumber attended. This was
unfortunate, as a- very interesting re-
port was given by Mr. C. 1VfeGregor,
U. F. 0. shipper, and by. the secret-
ary, Mr. R. J, 3,,delMillaM Mr. Mc-
Gregor reported total sales for the
'year, $60,099.25; premium on select
hogs, $951.74; 'total losses, $103, cov-
ered 'by insurance fund and a small
margin left. Mr. MeMillan!s report:
Number of carloads 36, total value
$43,270.55, profit to club $311, ex-
penses $297, which includes building
of coal bin. •T3incler twine to the
value of ppm was sold. A vote of
thanks was tendered :Messrs. 'Mc-
Millan and MeGreior for services
rendered. All the officers were re-
elected for the coming year. The

A couple of weeks ago a Morris
township farmer intended advertising
his auction sale in The News 'with a
short sale register notice, but changed
his mind and had the complete list
published. . On saleday a Holmes-
ville man purchased a hay 'loader after
keen !bidding, and a Huron road
Hullett man bought a batch lof pigs.
Both men 'had read ths ad. in The
News, and hired a truck from a
Seaforth garage to bring their pur-
chases home. Afterwards the Morris
farmer exclaimed: "And to think I
was nearly not pi:thing in the complete
list. It sure pay's to advertise I"
LIONS CHRISTMAS CHEER.
' The good work started last year by
the !Lions Club, In distributing Cheis-
mas Cheer and good will, in this com-
munity, will be continued and enlarg-
ed upon thiS year.

EGMONDVILLE.
S. S. entertainment and Christmas
tree had been arranged and announc-
ed for Thursday of next week. For
a number of reasons it has been
found necessary to change the !date
and it has been changed to Friday,
December 171h. In addition to the
regular programme given by the chil-
dren, which is always very enjoyable,
a couple of sets of slides bearing on
the Christmas season will he thrown
on the screen. It is hoped that all
who are interested in the work of the
Sunday school will make it a point to
,be present.
The young ladies of the Nei( Shaw
Auxiliary and a number of their
friends have 'been hard at Work pre-
paring a play, entitled "Station
YYYY" to he presented on Friday
night of this week. The programme
will -be broadcasted, but in order to
tune in to hest- advantage it will be
necessary to have a favorable loca-
don in the school-rooin.of the church.
The Young People's, meeting for
this week was held on Tuesday even-
ing under the vice-presidency of
George Black. The chair was occu-
pied by the President, Mr. Earle
Webster. The topic on the subject,
"What Our Church Teaches abbot
Jesus," was taken by the pastor. A
pleasing solo was rendered by -George
Holgate. Arrangetheots were made
for the election of officers at the
next regular meeting.,
