Anniversary services will be held in

The congregation are exceedingly
fortunate in having secured' for their
special preacher for that day, Rev. D.
C. McGregor, D.D., of St. Andrew's
United -Church, London, President of
the London Conference, and one of
the outstanding :figures in the United
Church of ,Canada. -Granted even
ordinary -weather conditions the
church should 'be filled to capacity at
both services.- Services at 19 a,m,
and 7.30 pen. A cordial invitatidn is
extended 'to all friends of -the congre-
gation to conte and worship with us
and hear Dr, McGregor.
The Presbytery of +i.Iuron held its
regular fall meeting at Bayfield on
Tuesday- ofthis week in response to
an invitation extended by the Bay-
field congregation some months ago.
The clay eves ideal and the result was
a splendid attendance, practically all
of the 40 pastoral charges and ap-
proximately 80 congregations being
represented. Rev, C. F. Clarke, of
North St., Goderich,, the Presbytery
chairman, ipresided, and under his
efficient leaders'h'ip a large docket of
'business was completed. 'Almost all
of the Pre'slbytery's committees re-
ported, aencl these reports not only re-
corded satisfactory progress during
the ,past year, but presented an en-
couraging and challenging ipriegram
for .the future. Rev, 'Geo. A. Wil-
liams, missionary on furlough from.
Formosa, captured the hearts and
the imaginations of bite audience by
his splendid appeal. In glowing
colors he pictured the magnificent op-
portunities for life service on the
foreign field, and while he .paid very
high eribute to those who were sup-
porting the work at the •home 'base,
yet one could not help 'feeling how
much more might be accomplished, if
we were measuring up to our op-
portunities. The fact that according
to cttstones reports, Canada spends
more than 25 million dollars per year
for tobacco, while the United Church
of Canada ask, only 334. million dol-
lars far 'Maintenance and Extension
which includes all mission work, was
one of his challenging remarks. The
elate and place of next meeting was
left in the hand's of the 1EEectttive
Committee.
