Measles and mumps are still plenti-
ful, judging by the' number of white
cards that are posted in our town.
Mrs. Crawford and daughter Mary
attended the funeral of their aunt,
Mrs. Madigan.
A few from Dublin attended the
party given 'by Mr. Robert Burchell.
Mr. Tyers is moving into his new
home over the creamery. It has been
finished by an expert carpenter.
Mr. Pat. McGrath is'wearing a

Mr. and Mrs. McEachern enter-
tained a sleightoad` of friends from
Cranbrool5 on Tuesday evening.
Miss Alice Hoy'is visiting friends
in Grey township.
J. Snelling gave the young .people
a party on Monday night.
Walton Hockey team went to Brus-
sels on Monday night. Result was
7-2 in favor of Brussels,
McKILLOP.
The regular monthly meeting of
Duff's church Ladies' Society met at
the home of Mrs, John E, Daley on.
Monday, Feb: lst, President Mrs. J.
A. Ferguson opened the meeting by•
a few moments of silent prayer, fol-
lowed by singing hymn 494' and
Scripture reading. Mrs. Henry'Hen-
derson read the missionary 'month-
ly prayer. The minutes of last meet-
ing were read and accepted. Mrs.
Ferguson sang a' very pleasing Hymn,
"My Saviour Holds My 'Hand." Ap-
propriate •read•ings were given by
Mrs. Andrew Henderson and Mrs.
Ferguson. , Several items of . business
were: discussed, The meeting closed
by all repeating the Lord's Prayer in
unison. , The remainder of the after-
noon was spent in sewing, after
which lunch was served by the host-
ess, Mrs. John E. Daley.
Duff's Y. P. S. -Mr, James Kerr
presided. The topic, 'What Christian
Endeavor Means to Me," was taken
by Irene Yantzi. Prayer was offered
by Rev. J. A. Ferguson. Readings
were given by Essie Dorrance, Robin
McKercher, Helen McKercher and
Tillie Storey.

Messrs. Jos, and John. Eckart have
finished their contract of clearing an
acre and a half of pine stumps.
Measles are still the order .of the
day and with all the quarantining
Ys the school closed, there are still num,
erous cases •breaking out. So it seems
as if the infection travels in the air.

Mr, and Mrs. Richard Cardiff and
daughter Vera, of. Lang, Sask„ and
Mrs. Annie Engel, of Grey township,
are visiting with their sister, Mrs.
James Smith, this last few weeks,
Mr, Aden Forbes, of McKillop, and
sister, Mrs. T. M. Williamson, of
Grey, spent the week -end in Fergus,
visiting their sister, Mrs. R. C. Gow-
land, who has been seriously i11, but
33 now improving, we are glad to
state.
Mr, Robt. T. Menarey, Cranbrook,
visited at the 'home of Mr. W. C. and
Mrs, McEachern on Sunday.
Mr. Hiram Hanna front Manitoba
visited friends in McKillop the past
couple of weeks.
Mrs. James Hilien visited Mrs.
Jaines Morrison over the week -end.
Mrs. C. Sellers spent the week -end
with friends at Heidelberg.
Armor Dundas is improving nicely
and is able to be out these mild days.

At St. Paul's rectory Stratford, on
January 27th, Miss Mary N. Argent,
youngest daughter of ;]Mrs. Martha
Argent, of Clinton; and Mr. Clifford
Epps, son of Mr, and Mrs, E, Epps,
of Varna, were quietly married, the
Rev. 1-I. W. Snell performing the
ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Epps will be
at home to their friethds at Varna
after Feb. 17th.
The case caul!: up at Goderich of
Durnin v. Webster,, an action in eon-
nection with the shipping of apples in
the fall of 1922. Abraham E. Durnin,'
apple buyer, of Clinton, sued under an
alleged avreenlent with Robert Web-
ster, of Stanlg# township, whereby
the latter was to purchase, pack and
ship apples for him. He alleged that
Webster ;bought and shipped apples
of inferior anality, causing him
serious loss. The case was tried last
year before Mr, Justice Lennox, who
dismissed it, and on application by
the plaintiff at Osgoode Hall a new
trial was granted, After the hearing
of evidence Mr. Justice Logic dis-
missed the action with costs, includ-
ing costs of the former trial and all
other costs reserved to this trial
judge.
WINTHROP.
The Ladies' Aid and W. M. S,
meeting held at the home of Mrs.
Scott Boltqn on Feb. 3rd, was well
attended. After piecing some quilts,
the meeting opened by singing
hymn 84. Mrs. Hilien presided. The
Scripture lesson was read by Miss
Edna Johnston followed by silent
prayer for Mrs. Gould. After singing
hymn 579, followed Messenger pray-
er by Mrs. Eaton, The topic on

"Striving and Aspiration in India,"
was given by Mrs. J. Simpson and
was very interesting. An essay 'on
India was given by Mrs, H. Blanch-
ard and one on, Japan was given by
'Mrs. R. Campbell, followed •by vol
notary prayer, by Mrs. Trewartha.
After several business i'ems were
discussed, the meeting closed by all
repeating the Lord's prayer, The
March meeting will be women's day
of prayer. A good attendance is be-
ing hoped for.

Mr. Thomas' Bennett, of Detroit,
is visiting Mr. and Mrs., Clarence
Bennett.
Hockey. --A fast gain of hockey
was played on Walton open air rink
last Saturday afternoon between Net=
son Govenlock and his 'Warriors of
Winthrop..and ;Tim Futon and, his
Wolves of Walton. The score was
8-3 in favor of the Warriors. Walton
beat Blyth 2 out of,three games, and
were pot used to, playing 'against so
fast a teant as Winthrop, The line-up
was as: follows:. Winthrop- Goal,
Bennett; defence, Govenlock and
Johnston; centre, Bullard; wings,
Blanchard and Holland; sub. Tre-,
wartha, '; Walton -Goal, Dennis; de-
fence, Dennis and Stone; centre,
Eaton; wings, Bennett and Sholdice;

Montgomery.

day evening, Jan, Hist. 'Mr, Harold
Bolton had charge of the meeting
