The regular meeting of the Young
People's Society of ,Bruce'1ield United •
Church was 'held on Mondiay evening,
November 20th, with a •fair attend-
ance. Mr. \rtnm• Pepper was in the
chair and the meeting was opened by
a hymn followed by prayer taken by
Rev. Mr. Bremner, Fonowed by an-
other hymn, The topic, "Poverty and
Wealth; was taken by Mr. Fred
!Boyce, who gave one of the finest
topics he'a'rd at ,our meetings this sea-
son. He went into full details and
gave example's from Paul's character.
:He also went on to say that money
used in the 'prosper way was a good
thing, and pointed out a ,man's char-
acter, but as regards money used in
the other way for purposes other than
doing good, 'was a' curse. Ie all big
society homes, money reigns supreme,
but as regards happiness and good
will, one .will find very little. He gave
several fine stories; w^hbch pointed to
true 'facts which happen in everyday
life. T,he one thing that Fred tried to
make clear was that the love of mon-
ey was ,against tate teachings of the
'Bible. I cannot go into full details,
'because the subject is too big. A dis-
cussion followed but owing to the
topic being well given, there was little
new ground to cover. Fred was given
close attention by all present and ev-
erybody appreciated such a tonic.
'The president, Mr. McLeod, took the
-hair for the business; it was moved
and seconded that the Y.P.S. put on a
play as their share of the Ch'ris'tmas
entertainment, The Rev. \V. A. !Brem-
ner, Miss E. Stackhouse, Mr. E. \Ic-
Lead were chosen as a committee to
select a play and the characters to
take part in it. Mr, Bremner read a
letter asking all the officers of the,So-
ciety to attend the Y.P.'S. rally in -Ex-
eter on Dec. il';t; as so many were un-
decided about going, this matter was
not settled, but Bruce'fie'td will be well
represented.,
t02 short time ago two members,
Miss E. Stackhouse and Mr, F. Boyce
were appointed captains for a rganrb-
