Society of the Collegiate 'Institute

gate took the affirmative side while
Gladys Coleman, Frank Archibald

ative. The decision was in favour of
the negative side, Father Hussey, Rev
W. IP. Lane and Rev. I. 13, and Mrs,
Kahle acting as judges. A delightful
duet was given by Misses Merle
Keating and M'argarot Hanley, ac-
companied on the piano by Miss Mar-
garet Smith. Misses Eleanor .Hender-
son, , Grace !ICrauter, Patricia South-
gate and LaBelle Hawkins gave a
musical number on guitars. The school
thanks the Ilonie and School Assoc-
iation for their generosity in giving
two dozen chairs. The meeting then
closed with the national anthem.

Poppy Day, but never have facts or

indifference, not to what was done by
the boys in 'the trenches, but to a work
of.which one has only a hazy con-
ception.

to regain the confidence of the public
SECTIONAL •M'E-ETING
On Monday, October .23nd, the sec-
tional meeting of the. W M S, of Cen-
tral Tluron met at Moncrieff. _Nearly
all of the different societies were well
represented.
The morning session was opened by
the 2,toncrieff ladies. It's, Cummings
in a few well chosen remarks welcom-
ed the ladies and a reply was given by
Miss McKercher of McKillop. After
the minuses and business of the meet-
ing splendid reports were g'lvear by
the different Auxiliaries, as well as .the,
Y,'W. Circles and C.G;I.T., also the
,Mission Bands incl !Baby Bands. Af-
ter the singing of the hymn, "Where
Coss the Crowded Ways of Life,"
Mrs. Ratteniury of Bruccfield led in
prayer. The afternoon session WRS
'opened by the Londesboro Auxiliary.
The ladies were their addressed by
Miss Edith Sperling, who as a mis-
sionary has spent 215 years in Chinn,
She took as her text, "Look to Your-
selves that you lose not that _:which
vin have gained." She told of the
marvellous changes that have taken
propriately decorated with plants and,

The anniversary teas brought to a
successful close on 'Monday -evening
with a fowl supper and concert. The
ladies of Coven Church have a record
o. long standing with respect totheir
fowl suppers, and many testified that
Monday nights was but'one more tri•
tunph in their long siring of successes
Following the supper, a concert was
given by the Lambeth Concert Quar-
tettes, consisting of nine artists—a
double mixed quartette and accr,rhp-
anist,The musical programme was
terspersed with humorous ,readings by
Mrs. S. Kelly. one of their number-..
