will soon be a change for the better,

will be served by W.M.S. of Burns'

The Woman's Missionary Society
met in the schoolroom, October 111th,
wibh 2i2 members present, The meet-
ing was presided over by Mrs. Neil
McGregor, who gave ,the'Bible read-
ing and s'p'oke a few words on the sub-
ject "We Would See Jesus.” The del-
egates appointed to attend the 'Centre
Sectional meeting at Moncrieff, Octo-
ber 23rd, were Mrs. Jas. Thomson anal
'Airs. A. T. Scott. The arrangements
for the packing:of the relief bales was
left in the .hands of firs. Jas. McQueen
and Mrs. G. Brock, Mrs. J. B. Mus-
tard, leader of 1Group ,No. 9, was in
charge of the program and introduced
the new study book, Living Issues in
China; lealflet on the ,first chapter was
read by Mrs. Brock; Mrs, ,Haugh; Mrs
T. B. Baird, Mrs. H. Aikenhead, and
Miss Jean Murdoch. The devotional
leaflet, "The Babe Jesus," was read by
Airs. A. T. Scott.

grandson of Mrs. R. Charters, Mill

ing of the Women's Missionary Soc-
iety was held at the home of Mrs. R.
McAllister on Wednesday, October

siding. The meeting opened with
hymn 6125. The 'Scripture lesson was
led by .Mrs. R. Love from St. Luke
2.11420. Mrs. Chandler led in prayer.

read and adopted. The roll call was
answered by letter 'I". A letter on
relief supplies was read by the presi-
dent. The business was then taken.
An invitation from the Kippen Auxil-
iary was received by the ladies to at-
tend 'their birthday meeting on Nov-
ember 1. The Thanlcoffering service
is set .for November l26 and •Miss Spar-
ing, a missionary, will be the guest
speaker. The devotional leaflet, "We
Would ,See Jesus." was given by Airs.
T. Turner. Hymn 58. The study leaf-
lets on"Living Issues in China," were
given by Mrs. R. Consitt, Mrs. H.
Turner, Mrs. R. Stephenson, Miss
Annie J'arrott, Airs. R. 1Love and Mrs.

closed with the Lord's prayer in uni-
son.

Garth, of Crystal City, Manitoba, are
visiting friends in this vicinity.
Rev. R. K. and Mrs. Love of 'Kir.-
tore visited former's parents. Air. and
Mrs. W. Love. Miss Lelttie Love re-
turned with her 'brother for a visit,
Mrs. R. Hopkins, who spent a few
days visiting her parents, returned to
her home :in Chicago.

The neighbors were awakened early
Tuesday morning on the Parr line
south, when the barn, drive shed and
coniten'ls Of Air, John Marriott were
bnrned.•Mr. Marriott went out to the
barn early with Itis lantern to do
chores and while putting down feed,
the lantern with the high wind caught
fire and before much could be saved
