Bentley Re -Union. --.On Saturday,
July lest, the 10th annual re -union was
:held at the home of Mr. and Mns,
[Christopher Barrows, lot 34, conces-
sion 13, M'eKillap. Over a, hundred
relatives and friends were present,
the 'fol'lowing places being represent -

and a good 'tune was spent playing

and other games, Excellent refresh-
-menta 'were served and everyone
seemed to have Toad' a most enjoyable
day. It was decided to hold the 11934
-reunion at Mr. and,Mrs. Samuel

MoAethur. Mrs, Bennett was E.dnia
'Eileen Kelly before her miarriage in
October, 1923. She was a daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. James-IGelly
and was born twenty-nine years ago
in Taranto where she lived until nine
years of age, Her 'fa'ther, who had
been with the railway in Toronto un-
til enlisting, was killed at the S'o'mme
in 1.9115. Her mother then' came to live
at Westfield, near Winghatm, at the
:parental home. Shortly afterwards her
death occurred. The deceased attend-
ed school there and later went to To-
ronto in the employ, of the Bed! Tele-
phone Company for about two years
before her marriage. She is survived
`by one brother, Mr, William Kelly of
London. Besides her sorrowing hus-
band she leaves to mourn her loss two
young children, Ronald Rae and Shir-
ley Eileen, to whom goes out the
sympathy of the whole comimundty.
'Mrs. Bennett came to Winthnop as a
'bride, where Mr. Bennett was con-
ducting a Store and lived there for
-about five years, moving to Walton
''four years ago fast December to the
-apartments above the store and poet -
office, Mrs. Bennett was the talented
organist df Duff's Church and took
an active interest in all endeavors
The deceased suffered an attack of
append'iditis seven weeks ago and a
week later was takers tri the hospital.
at Kiitehener, where she underwent an
operation. Olwing to complications
her condition had not been favourable
although a few days previous- to her
death she appeared to be somewhat
improved.
Mr. and Mrs, Lacombe of Detroit
are spending their holidays with the
latter's mother, MTs, C. Drager.
Mr. and Mrs. D. Sbhler spent The Wes
end with M. and Mrs.
Clark.
Dorothy Murray, Jack Murray,
Mary Buchanan and Mary Humph-
ries are writing the entrance in Brus-
sels.
Mr. C. Sellars is presiding aver the
entrance class at Manley and Miss
Lydia Reid is presiding at Brussels,
Mr, and Mrs, R. Reid, and Edna
have moved to their home in the vil-
lage. We welcome them.
'alr. and Mrs. Wm. Goriey of De-
troit returned on Tuesday after
spending a few days with Mrs. John
Driscoll at 'Leadbury.
Miss Dorothy- Driscoll returned
home after spending a month in De-
troit.
Mrs. 5• J. Skalitzky left Saturday
for her home in Dil in„g, Alta., after
spending several weeks with her bro-
ther, Mr• William Mc.Culla,
Mr. Will Bennett lett Monday for
his hone at D'insmare, Sask,
[Walton defeated Moncrieff at Wal-
ton on Monday evening by a score of
4-1. Carter, McIGlavlin and Steiss got
Walton's goals and Holman scored for
Monerieff.
Mr. and Mrs, Jack McDonald re-
turned from a trip to the West this
week. They were visiting the form-
er's brother and report crops fairly
good..
Mr. George U'•ndenwood came from
.-Streetsville on Saturday to take over
his duties as section foreman.
Mr, Gilbert McCallum has returned
'from his visit to Hanley, Sask. He
;reports crops slouch of "'there are not
very golod owing -to tack of Main, bur
things are in fair shape at Hanley.
Mr, and M'rs. Henry 'Vast of Wind-
sor visited over the week end with
the ,latter's sister, Mrs. R. W. Hoy.
Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie Drager and
son Ohaeles of Galt were vnsitors
with Mrs, C. Drager over the week

An article of interest to a large
circle of friends' of the Rev. Dr. D.
B, Marsh of Ha'm'ilton, appeared in a
recent issue of the Norwich Gazette.

William Clark and Mr. Peter Gardin-
er of Walton. Dr• Marsh has lectur-
ed is Seaforth asd on several occas-
ions has occupied the pulpit of First
Presbyterian Church there. The art-
icle is as follows: "Government Rec-
ognizes Work of Former Norwich
Pastor. -The house of Commons re-
cently approved a special grant of
tP,000 to Rev, Dr. D. B. Marsh, late
of Nlorwich, but now of Hamilton, in
recognition of his astrdno'mical ser-
vices. In committee of supply, Hon.
E. N. Rhodes said, as reported in
Hansard: "Dr. Marsh is an elderly
clergyman who has devoted himself
to science, more particularly as it ap-
plied to astronomy. He headed the
'Hamilton contin'gen't which was able
to secure a, record of the recent eclipse
-II understand the most' perfect re-
cord of all those obtained, His work
is recognized and I hold in my hand
a copy of the Tllustrated London
(England) News, which indicates the
value of the scientific work perform-
ed by that expedition. He did this
work ratuitously, 'and it was felt . th!at
as his work had brought a sertain
amount of eminence ' to Canada it
should be recognized in this manner."
Rt. Hon, Mackenzie King said: "I
should like to join v'ith the minister
of finance in saying that I think this
recognition is eminently worthy in
every way, If there is any fault to be
found with the vote, it is that it is
much too small."
