The pro- ceedings opened with the singing of "Blest Be the Tie .that Binds." 'Then Miss Wheatley, on behalf of 'the Young ;People, read an address to Mr, and Mrs. Smith,: expressing regret that the Young People felt at the sev- erance of the ties 'between pastor and people. Miss Essie Dorrance, : _!Miss Ruth Scott and Miss Margaret Kerr presented lir, and Mts. Smith with a handsome floor lamp and Lois, Aus- tin and Gladys. small remembran;ces from the 'Sunday School. Mrs. Smith was made the recipient of an autograph quilt on behalf of the l\V.M.S. and Ladies' 'Aid. This ad- dress was read by Mrs, William Shannon and the presentation made by Mrs. F McKercher, lir. and ?sirs. Smith replied ex -1 pressing. their appreciation of these gifts and their happiness at being as- sociated with us. The programme was continued with community singing and other.interest- ing numbers. •Lunch was served and a pleasant evening brought to a close with the singing of Auld 'Lang Syne.'
