Death of Mr. Ross Dignan —. The
death occurrell on Saturday June
Ord at the homeoif his daughter, Mrs,
David Blackwell, Lot 20, Conces-
sion 6; Hay 'twlp., of Rass Dignan,
age 91 years. H•e lived for some 80
years on the farm Where he died, and
was well known and highly resp.ect-
ed. For a man of his age, Ise was: very
'fictive up till a short time ago, and
always took a great pride in the farm
'upon whieh he had spent so many
years. He was a member of the Un-
;ted •Church at Henlsall and a Liberal
in politics. He leaves to mourn his
loss two daughters, Mrs. David
Blackwell of Hay, and Mrs. Hodgins
of Lu'can; also two brothers, James
and John Dignan of Exeter. His wife
predeceased him some years ago.
The funeral, whldh was privlate,
took place on Monday afternoon, In-
terment in the Faniis'vthLle Cemetery.
Rev. A. Sinclair had charge of the
services:

The Arnold Circle of Carmel Pres-

are visiting this week with relatives

Mr. Ed, 'Morrison of Clinton visit-
ed friends in the village Saturday.
A quiet wedding was solemnized
at the Presbyterian manse on Satur-
day morning when Edith Grace, ; eld-
est daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
tMdBride of Stanley was united in
marriage to Harald Clifford, eldest
son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. G. Bell of
Hay, Rev. W. A. Young officiated.
The bride is'as becomingly gowned
in a frock of rose silk and lane with
accessories to match and for travell-
ing a dress of royal blue with shoes
and coat to match. After the cere-
mony a wedding dinner v,'as served
at the home of the bride's parents af-
ter which the young couple left for
'Niagara Falls and .other points,
The baseball match between Cred-
iton and HensaIl m the Cyclone lea-
gue played here on Monday evening
resulted 1045 for Crediton.
Mr. and Mrs. John Passmore and
'daughter, Miss GIl'adys spent the
week end with friends in Hamilton.
Mr. and Mrs, McRoberts of Toron-
to spent the week end at the home of
Mr.; and Mrs. Fred Hess.
Miss Annie Consitt had the misfor-
tune Sund'a'y evening to fall when go-
ing down the steps hurting her knee
severely. She is confined to her boom
for afew days.
Mrs. Winn. AldLean of Hamilton is
visiting at the home of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John Passmore.

Mrs. Hannah Taylor visited friend's in

IA court of revision on the assess-
ment roll was held in the town hall
on Monday evening. The reeve and
council acted as the court. There were.
nine appeals. Edward Lindenlfield of
Exeter appealed that the assessment
on his three lotswas too high. Ap-
peal dismissed; J. W. Ortwein, that
his house and lot on North Richmond
street were assessed too high, appeal
dismiss ed; Owen - Geiger, that his
residence on Queen street was too
high, appeal dismissed, Sarah D'fcic
that her house and. lot on King street
West was too high, appeal dismissed.;
Harry Sodden, Donald Burns and T.
!Sherrill that farm lands and'build-
ings were assessed too high; appeals
dismissed; Ray Lannmre, and Greta
