their regular meeting in the basement
of the • Presbyterian 'C'hurc'h on May
8th. The meeting opened by singing
liyinn 7,19, after which Mrs. Stewart
f'ed in prayer. 'Oben 'McTavish read
the minutes .of the Last meeting. These
were ,followed. by the roll call which

was then taken up by R,oy Kerr, Mar-
garet MdLeod took the c'ha'r foe the
devotional 'penia,.: Hymn '7120 was
sung which was followed by a prayer
led by Marian 'Slater. The Sicriptetre
lesson was then taken' by Donald Mc-
Tavish and thoughts on the Scripture
by Stewart Wigg. Sentence prayers
were then given by Alma Elliott,
Ruth Joynt, !Lois Wright. A very in-.
te're'sIting story' was told by Mrs. Bro-
die ,called "A Penny Parable," The
Band chorus was then sung. The
meeting ; closed by .repeating the
Lord's prayer in unison.

selections at every meeting, numerous
read'in'gs and :recitations and: two edi-
tions of the Arts Club, Journal.. The
average atte'nd'ance at each meeting
was 38.
Mr. Jack Dldwn'ey was awarded with
•th:e 'highest percentage in the chair-
manship c'intest and was: presented,
with the prize at .this meeting.

meeting opened with the usual sing-
song, 'led by Miss Mary Reid. Hymn
425 was then sung after which the
Lord's prayer was repeated 'in unison.

ing. Florence Calvert and Margaret
Fletcher Favored tis with a very pleas-
ing duet, Rev, W, 'P. Lane then con-
ducted a Bible match wh c'h proved
very interesting. A beaiuttfu'lly render-
ed solo by Miss Ruth Thompson, ac-
companfed an the piano by Miss Hel-
en e'i Lane, was enljoyad by a11. Miss Db -
rine Hudson Shen gave a very ,'brinor

offertory taken by Mary Thompson,
treasurer, and offertory prayer was

ter read a parable on "Mother" by
Temple Badley. Hymn 403' was sung.
Mary Riling gave an interesting out
line "The Canadian ,Girls in Training,
Their Work and Worship D'uring the
Year." A duet by Lillian and Nellie
Reeves, entitled, "The Old Rugged
?Cross." Greetings were 'brought from
the W.M.S. by Mrs. James Derr, who
mentioned that the W.M.S. was the
grandmother society; the Barbosa
'Kirkman was the daughter, the ,CSG.
I.T. was the granddaugh'ter; the Mis-
sion Band was the 'great granddaugh-
ter; cradle roll, the great great grand-
daughter. 'Thus five generations are
all l'in'ked with the missionary work,
M'rs. Sclater 'brought greetings from
the B'arb'ara I0irkinan' Auxiliary and
exp'ress'ed pleasure at the ,co-operation
'of the girls with the senior work. A
'p'oem by Helen Sclater, "N'ob'ody
'K'n'ows, Only Mother." A' contest
conducted by Pearl Reeves` was won

man had a surprise for the girls and
.their mothers, by serving lunch, and
a pleasant social half hour 'was spent.

'The funeral of Mr. Jdh'n Thomp-
son of Sit. Marys took place on Mon-
day afternoon from the home of his
sister, Mrs. T. G. 'Scott, John st.
The services were conducted by Rev.
II. B. Koine of First Pres'byt'erian
Ohuroh. Interment took place in
Meitiand Bank Cemetery, the pall-
bearers being J. J.'guff, J. W.
'Beattie, W. Brine, Wilhind Thantp-
son, 'Wa'lter S'co'tt d'nid 'Ardour
Thompson.
'The passing of Mr. Thompson is the
'founth' demise since a year ago last
(Armistice Day, in the family of el-
even children of the late J'dhn
Th'onilplson of M'dKillop. A sister and
two 'heathers predeceased hiin within
that time, Mrs. Simeon N'eeley and
Mr. James B. Thompson, both resid-
ents of town, an, Nov, Ilhth and Dec.
5.th, 1'9311', and Mr. Thomas Thomp-
son of Tuckersenith, on January 23,
11932.
For a great many yearly Mr.
Teee,eep,see had made his home ,near
St Marys, being in . charge of the

'A'fter leaving ,has home in M,dKll-
lop, he spent a few years in .Exeter
'where he undertook horse training.
He had been in poor health for
some time, but Ovals well enough to
pay a visit to Seafonth at C'heis'tnua's.
On Good Friday he was taken to
Stratford hospital where he remained
until his . death .occurred Saturday ev-
ening, May Oth.

three brothers: Mrs, F, Smythe and
Mr. L. Beattie Thompson of Vance
couver, B.C.; Mrs, R. J. Webb, Ha-
