,On. Monday afternoon !about five
o'clock Mlary Frances Marry, four
year old -daughter of Mr, and Mrs,
Michael Barry tveccumbed to terrible
burns as a result of an, accident at
the Mesonily home in Ilibber't 'township.
The cause of :the accident remained
a mystery to the distressed parents
until on 'ITtnesdlap evening, after the
funeral, a younger sister who had wit-
nessed the wocidettt and .had by that
time recovered front the :excitement

ed dinner. Mr. Barry .was threshing

JOINT MEETIING
A joint meeting of. the W,M.IS• and
Barbara Kirkman Auxiliary met on
Tuesday evening in the school roam
of First Presbyterian Church with a
large attendance elf both societies
present. The McDonald Group bad
charge and Mus, John •Mac' avrsh pee -
sided. The meeting 'opened by singing
a hymn, 'I. Need Thee Every How."
and 31rs John Stewart tfollowed with
prayer. The Scripture reading was gi-
ven by Mrs. Jas`. Kerr. All answered
the roll call 'by quoting a verse of
Scr p:tore, The minutes to!f last regular
meetings were read by the secretaries
and a'piproved.:M,rs Jas. (Kerr took the
business part for the W.M.,S. and Miss
Belle Campbell 'conducted the •busin-
ess part for the Barbara Kirkman Au-
xiliary. Twbo mulsical numbers were
very mulch 'enjoyed, a pianto solo by
Miss Kathleen Storey and duet by
Mrs: W. Wright tend Miss Harriett
Murray. The 'Glaid 'Tidin'gs prayer was
mead by Mrs. Thos..BFek1e. The topic,
"The Open Door," was ably taken by,
Miss Marion Gray and was very int-
eresting. It was 'decided both societies
hold their annual meeting, Dec, 1'3t'h.
The meeting was brought to a close by
by singing a 'hymn and repeating the
'Lord's prayer in unison,
three-year-old sister 'Barnette, were
let eating their pie at the table.
Then the 'children apparently went
over to the range and, 'Frances climb-
ed on ,a chlair and ;pull a tsticic of
wood in the fine. She reached .over
the ripen lid. for the poker - in the
warming oven, .when her 'little starch-
ed apron, made by her mother, drop-
ped within reweh, of idle flame's and
caught fire Frances replaced the lid
on the stove, 'flung away the porker,
which was afterwards ,found, near the
wall, ,and 'she ran rou'tdodrs toward
the barn. Evidently alter .go'in'g ;part
Way to the baro she :became 'fright-
ened 'and turned around and ran back
into' the, house and up •the stairs, the
staircase being ,quite close to the kit-
chen d'o'or. an 'her terror .she ran and
stood beside the cradle 'containing the
ten months' old 'baby boy, 'the •rungs
of the cradle being scorohed.
A couple of minutes later Mrs. Bar-
ry returned drum the !blain unaware
of the 'accident until the younger
sister ran crying out to meet her.
Smelling ,the smoke, Mrs..Barry went
upstairs .and 'found .Frances sitting
oronohed .against the wall, her clothes
in flames. Throwing a blanket a-
round her to rsmother the flames Mrs..
Barry led the child :downstairs ' and
of the house. Wire rfences were no finally extinguished the fire, with
obstacle, as they 'skip+pend over them
with ease. So many (hunters go North
every year, this looks lake a return
visit .from the deer.

BOYS' PARLIAMENT
'Voting for the ;Boys' IParliamen't
takes place in the base'm'ent of the lib-
rary, Exeter, between the hours of 9
a.m.' and 6 p,m. on Saturday next. All
boys between the ages of .112, and 21
whose names' have been; sent in' are
entitled to Vote. Boys outside of Exet-
er are urged to get in touch with sup-
erintendents df Sundays Schools and

James Street basement at 8 o'clock
Saturday night in honor of the win-
ning candidate, followed by a proces-

youngster and was proud of being a

The ,funeral took place on Tuesday

ficiated. 'The pallbearers were four
boys, part Feeney, Lorne Feeney,
Ralph Mturphy, and Arthur Murphy,

There paned' away on Tuesday mor-
ning, November 15th, a highly es-
teemed and respected resident of (Hib-
bert Township in the per -son of Millss
Agnes Herron. 'Deceased, who :west
the eldest daughter of the late George
Herron and it ily McDougall, was boon
near Crama•rty, October 4, 1559. For
many years she resided in Staffalbut
for the past nineteen years she resid-
ed with her cousin, John 'McDougall,
near Ohiselhursi. For the .past- year
she had 'been in failing health but was
able ,to be up and around till Monday
morning when she suffered a stroke
of paralysis from which she n'ev'er re-
gained consciousness. She was a
member of 'Cromarty Presbyterian
Church and took an active paint in alt
hranoh:es of the church's work. She
leaves to mourn. prem Las's two brothers, •
George, New Ontario; :Alex., Sask-
atoon, ;Sank.; and one sister, Mrs -
Joseph Getty, Moose Jaw, !Sask. The,
was 'largely attended, Showing the
esteem .in which the deceased was
held. !Rev. Mr. Rogers, Cromarty,
and ;Rev. Mir. Elder,' Milverton, of
Mr, Clifford Ball returned backonfioiated. IIniterment was trade in
