STANLEY AMOS KEYS Funeral services were held at the home of his son, Lloyd Keys, Parr Line, Stanley Township, followed by a public service in Varna United Church on Saturday, October 10, for Amos Keys. Rev. Reba Hern officiat- ed and interment followed in Baird's Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Johnston, John Ostrom, Ed. Foster,. Bert Peck, Russell Erratt and John Dowson. Flower 'bearers were Wil R. Stephenson, George Reid, Bill Reid, Alf Johnston, Mervin Johnston and. Fred McClymont. Friends from a distance attending the funeral were present from List- owel, Hensen, Port Huron, Mich., Brucefield, St. Marys, Dashwood, Exeter, Goderich, Seaforth, Hamil- ton, and Clinton. Mr. Keys was born on the Baby- lon Line, Stanley Township, on March 1, 1865, a son of the late Ro- b .rt and Mary Keys. He had spent his entire lifetime in . his' native township moving from the Babylon Line to the Parr Line 29 years ago. Fe was a Methodist, latterly United Church in religion, and was a valued member of Varna *United Church. Mr. Keys' death occurred at his late hesidence on Thursday, October 13, following a two week's illness. Mr. 'Keys was married to Agnes Jane Wiley about 53 years ago, who predeceased him 24 years ago. •Sur- viving are two sons, Lloyd and Roy, Varna, and three grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Ben, Brucefield, and two sisters, Mary, Mrs. Lewis Anderson, Goderich; Phoebe, Mrs. Sam Hanna, of Sea- forth. Kyle presiding. The opening hymn was "Jesus, Thou Joy of loving Hearts" after which the Lord's Prayer was repeated. Miss Edna Petske read the scripture Lesson. The devotional reading was taken by Miss Dorothy McNaughton. Mrs. H. Hyde ofered prayer, minutes read, roll call and collection taken. The next hymn was "My Faith, looks up to Thee". The Misses Audrey Walsh and Mar- lene Petske rendered a lovely duet "Let the rest of the world go by",.ac- companied by Miss Edna Walsh. Miss Ellis favored with a humorous read- ing. The president then dealt with. the business items. She asked for ideas re making money for the group. Members favor holding a musical program in the near future. It was suggested that we also have at this event a one -act play, same to be pro- cured at once. Mr. Blackwell, Dor othy McNaughton, Howard Brook and Mrs... Kyle were named a pro- gram committee to meek further arrangements; also to decide on the date later, Fuller particulars will follow. Miss Helen Moir of London -was a recent visitor with Mrs. Melvin Moir and Mr. and Mrs. 'Lawrence Bart - ham.
