of July 4th were read.
Motion by Geo, C. Brown and J.
Ira Rapson, that the minutes of the
last regular meeting be adopted as
read, carried.
At this time a delegation of rate-
payers approached the Council re-
garding a proposed drain on the 9th
concession. A discussion took place
and a special meeting was called for
Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. at lot
20 concession 9 to further look into
this proposition.
A delegation from the Blyth Agri-
cultural Society approached the*
Council regarding a grant for their
Fall Fair. Jewitt and Rapson, that
we pay a grant of 335.00 to the
Blyth Agricultural Society, carried.
Jewitt and Rapson, that the ac-
counts as approved be paid, carried.
Jewitt and Brown, that we do now
adjourn to meet Thursday, Septem-
ber 1, at 8:00 p.m., D. S. Time, car-
ried.

Mrs. -Norman E. Cook, Wednesday,
when their elder daugther, Dr. Nor-
ma Elizabeth Joyce Cook became
the bride of Dr. Mervin Alexander
Hopkinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. K.
0. Hopkinson, of Ancaster. Rev. R.
A. Brook officiated.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, was charming in a gown
of ice blue lace with tiered skirt and
matching headdress. She carried a
bridal bouquet of pink roses. Miss
Eleanor Cook, was her sister's
bridesmaid wearing turquoise net
over taffeta. Mr. William Muchan,
of Aneaster was groomsman. Dr.
Eunice Ostreicher of London was the
soloist accompanied 'by Miss Greta
Lannnie. .A. reception followed and
the couple left later for a wedding
trip, the bride travelling in a frock
of summer beige with taffy access-
ories. Dr. and Mrs. Hopkinson will
reside in Kingston.

ST. COLUMBAN
The funeral of Miss Reta Sloan
was held at St. Columban Church on
August 6th and was very largely at-
tended. Father O'Drowski said: the
Mass and Father McQuaid of Toron-
to; Father Nigh of Windsor, and
Father Moylan from the China Mis-
sions were in the sanctuary. Inter-
ment was in the St. Columban cem-
etery.
The pallbearers were Michael Con-
nolly, Patrick Murray, Martin Feen-
ey, Joseph Flannagan Jr. Thos. Kale,
Thos. Murray,
Among those from a distance who
were present were Mr. and Mrs. Neil
Klein, Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Thos.
