Captain L. 'Burch, who has been
in charge of the Salvation Army here
since last December, has been trans-
ferred to St: Marys, and her assist-
ant, Capt. D. McDonald is on sick

The Pepper Reunion was held
July 2nd at Seaforth Lion's Park
with around 100 in attendance.' ,A.
good time was spent by all. Those

GATHERING HERE
The McDonald Clan reunion was
held at Lions park, Seaforth, Mon-
day, July 4th, when seventy descen-
dants were present. A very sump-
tuous supper was -served by the
ladies of the clan.
The sports committee then took
over with an enjoyable program
which pleased young and old. •
Officers elected for 1950 are:

retary, Mrs. Norman McDonald;

W. J. DALE'S GELDING
• MANY TIMES A WINNER
Mr. Wni. J. Dale of Hullett was
counting up the prizes won by his
Clydesdale gelding, "Scot," and it is
indeed an impressive record.
This gelding was first at 1948
C.N.E., Toronto, and first at West-
ern Fair, London. He also won 11
championships, 47 firsts and 3 se-
conds at the last 18 fairs.
TANNER—RUSSELL
First Presbyterian Church, ' Sea -
forth, was the scene of a pretty wed-
ding on Saturday afternoon when
Edith Winnifred, daughter of Mrs.
James Burn Russell and the late Mr.
Russell, was united in marriage to
Mr. Richard Whittier Tanner, Son
of the late Mr• and Mrs. William
Aird Tanner of Regina. Rev. D.
Glenn Campbell performed the cere-
mony in a setting of lovely blue. del-
phinium and white madonna lilies.
Mrs. M. R. Rennie played the wed-
ding music and accompanied Mr.
James T. Scott when lie sang "0
Perfect Love". The bride, given in
marriage by her grandfather, James
R. Scott, wore a gown of white taf-
feta with wide neckline, short puff
sleeves, and a triple -tiered gathered
skirt with lace insertion. Her flowers
were white roses and stephanotis.
Her attendants were her two sisters,
Miss Harriet Russell and Miss Bar-
bara Russell, who wore dresses of
pink taffeta and carried nosegays of
sweet peas. Mr. William Tanner,
Toronto, was his brother's grooms-
man; and the ushers were Mr, Rob-
ert McKinley and Mr. Jerald Long-
worth. A reception was, held at the
home of the bride's grandfather. On
their return from a motor trip, Mr.
and Mrs. Tanner will reside in
Ottawa.

forms for the H.E.P.C., at Clinton
giving them permission to construct
hydro lines in a safe and reasonable
manner and within five feet of ,the
fence line on township roads.
Council purchased four fire ex-
tinguishers at a cost of 516.00 for
use at township shed.
The Clerk was instructed to re-
quest the township engineer to re-
port on the Clarke Drain as coin -
plaints had been received that the
same was out of repair.
Clinton Show was given, a grant of
525.00.
Accounts passed were as follows:

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert
Kereher, Hensall, was the scene of
a very pretty wedding at high noon
Saturday, July 2, 1949, when their
younger daughter Doris Gertrude
was united in marriage to William.
Spencer Jeffery, only son of Mr. and
-Airs. Archie Jeffery, Staffa. The
ceremony was performed by Rev, R.
A. Brook, Hensel', before a back-
ground of lovely summer flowers.
Miss Joan Kennedy of Kitehener,
cousin of the bride played the wed-
ding music and accompanied -the
soloist Mr's. Jas. Bonthron of Hen
Sall, who -sang "Because" before the
ceremoiy and "I Love You Truly",
during the signing of the register.
Mrs. Bonthron wore a floor -length
gown of sea green, with a corsage
of pink carnations.
The changing bride, given in mar-
riage by her father, looked lovely in
a gown of candlelight satin with a
draped peplum edged with French
lace over a padded hip -line with very
full skirt, calla lily sleeves, and.
buttoned to the` waist at the back
with tiny covered buttons. A tiny
Peter -Pan collar outlined the neck-.
line, with a yoke -edged in satin scal-
lops and French lace. Her finger-tip
veil of embroidered illusion fell from
a beaded tiara. She wore rhinestone
earrings, necklace and bracelet gift
of•the groomand carried a shower
bouquet of pink delight roses with
satin streamers. Miss Margaret.
Kercher of London, was her sister's
maid of honor wearing a gown of
nylon marquisette in daffodil yellow
with a peplum with self ruching over
a very full skirt. The dress had cap
sleeves; and she wore elbow -length
gauntlets. Her matching shoulder -
length veil of embroidered illusion
fell from a gold beaded tiara and she
carried an armbouquet of Talisman
roses. Roy Hannon, Mitchell, cousin
of the groom was best man and Ross
Kereher, twin brother of the bride,
escorted the guests. After the cere-
mony a reception was held in the
Commercial Hotel, Seaforth, for
forty guests. Mrs. Kereher, mother
of the bride received the guests
wearing a gown of aqua faille' with
matching accessories and wore a
corsage of Talisman roses. She was
assisted by the groom's mother Mrs.
Jeffery, wearing a gown of corn-
flower blue :crepe with matching ac-
cessories and corsage of Talisman
roses. Guests were present from
Washington D,C.,.,Datiuit, Toronto,
Kitchener, London, Nlitchell, Gran-
ton,

Later the bridal,couple left for a
trip .through Norther=n Michigan and

Logan Pupil Attains High Honours
On Entrance Exams
In the departmental examinations
held at Mitclaell this year, Dorothy
Knipe, a pupil of Miss Angela O'-
Reilly, teacher at S.S. No. 11, Logan,
obtained the highest marks of the
1.14 candidates writing at the Mit-
chell centre. This is the second year
that a pupil of Miss O'Reilly's has
won this distinction. Another en-
trance pupil, Janet Partridge, as
well as Dorothy Knipe, was success-
ful in obtaining honours on the
exams. Both girls were grade seven
pupils, who took grade 7 and 8 in
one year.
