A welcome -home party, honoring
Rev. Francis K. Moylan, S.F.M. who
has recently returned from foul'
years' missionary work in the Do-
minican Republic, West Indies, was
held in St. Columban Parish Hall on
Wednesday night, A large represent-
ation of his home parish was present
and Father Moylan addressed the
gathering portraying an interesting
account of his missionary work.
He was presented with a purse of
money for which he expressed mis
appreciation.
Father Moylan is the youngest son
of Thomas Moylan, McKillop town-
ship and the late Mrs, Moylan. He
was ordained in St. Alphonsus' Sem-
inary Chapel, Woodstock, by Most
Rev. John T. Kidd, Bishop of Lon-
don, June 17, 1945 and celebrated
his first Solemn High Mass at St.
Columban Church, on June 24, a
week later. He has two brothers,
Joseph, Waterloo, and John, Me
Killop; also one sister, Mrs. Maurice
Dalton, Hibbert.
Following a few week's vacation
he will resume his missionary labor.
A farewell party hollering Mr. and

ship prior to their departure for
their new home in Seaforth, was
held in Staffa hall on Monday night.

Forty Hours' devotion services,
conducted at St. Patrick's Church,
Dublin, by Rev. Justin O'Brien, C.P.
Toronto, were concluded on Tuesday
night with a procession of the clergy
and acolytes, chanting of the Litany
of the Saints and the Papal Bene-
diction.

The regular June meeting of St.
Mary's Church Anglican Guild was
•held at the home of Mrs. John Diehl,
Logan, on Thursday afternoon, with
a good attendance of members and
visitors. The president, Mrs. Albert
Rock opened the meeting and Rev.
Mr. Jones read the scripture lesson
and led in prayer. The secretary,
Mrs. A. Whetham, read the minutes
which were adopted and a resolution
was passed to forward the annual
donation to the Chiidrens' Aid for
Britain. The ladies completed a quilt
and lunch was served by the hostess
and her assistant.

high esteem in which Mrs. Elgie was
held. Her husband predeceased her
in 1933. One son Robert and three

Fred Rothwell and Mrs. Joe Upshall,
survive.

Mrs, John Scott met with a painful
accident recently by her gas strive
flaring up, she is suffering with
badly burnt arms and hands and also
some spots on the legs. She was
rushed to Clinton where her burns
were attended to and is now getting
along fine, and will soon be back to
her position in Mr. Alexander's store.
The regular meeting of the W.M.
S. was held in the • church school-
room on Thursday, June 9. Mrs. T.
Fairservice, leader of group 2, took
charge and opened the meeting by
reading the theme. "The Keeping sf
the Lord's Day". Hymn 188 was
sung. Virga, Fairservice and Mrs.
Townsend read the several passages
of scripture interspersed with hymns
717 and 288, followed by prayer.
Mrs. Ruddel took up the offering.
Miss Phyllis MaCcol sang that
beautiful number, The Stranger of
Galilee. Prayers were offered by
Jars. Beacon, iia's, Gorier and firs.
Watson, Mrs. E. Wood contributed
a fine instrumental, "That will be
-glory for me" in variations. Mrs. R.
Townsend conducted the devotional
period. Psalm 706 was read alter-
nately. A few minutes of silent fined-
itation on hymn 174, verses 1, 8, 4 in
memory of a faithful and honored
member of our W M.S., the late de-
parted .lirs, F. Shobbrook, who is
greatly missed by all. The Lord's
Prayer was repeated in unison. The
question of sending a bale overseas
was- again discussed, anyone having
good used clothing or bedding, also,
new articles for children will be
gratefully received. Leave clothing
at Mrs. W. Lyon's. Miss P, McCool
gave a reading o1 "Total Alntiu-
ence". A hymn was sung and meet-
ing was dismissed.

The W.M.S. and W.A. held their
monthly meeting at Duff's Church
on June 9th with a good attendance.
Mrs. Jim Stewart, president, opened
the meeting with hymn 188, verses
1, 3 and 5. Minutes of the last meet-
ing ware read by Mrs. John Gordon.

taken followed by Mrs. Jim Stewart
with a, report of the Ladies' Confer-
ence held at Kingsville, which was
very interesting. Hymn 188 was sung
verses 2 and 4. Mrs, Stewart closed
this portion of the meeting with
prayer. Mrs, J. Hillebrecht, leader
of the baby band then took over the
meeting. Hymn 594 was sung. A
story of Jesus was told by Mrs. J.
Hillebreoht and prayer by Mrs.
Hillebrecht, Hymn 598 was sung
