Nicol A.C.C,O., contributed anthems, trio and a solo by Mrs. A. Scholl entitled "The Stranger ' of Galilee". Those taking part in the. trio were Mrs. C. Kennedy, Mrs. P. A. Ferguson and Mrs. : A. Scholl. Soloists in the anthems were Mrs. H. C. Bell, Mrs, C. Kennedy, Mr. Don ald Bell and Mr, W. O. Goodwin. Rev. R. A. Brook of Hensall United Church assisted at the evening ser- vice. Mrs. Peppier and son Mr. Edward Peppier of 'iianover and Mr, William Peppier of Kitchener visited recently with Mrs. J. W. Bonthron. Mrs. Floyd f dais, Lucy and Eu- nice spent the weekend in London attending the funeral of Mrs. Adair's mother-in-law, Mrs. Lucy Adair, who passed away Friday in St. Joseph's Hospital. She was the. widow of Free- man Adair of Lucan, who predeceas- ed her in January. Teachers' Fed- eration meeting,, Sangster -Forster Westminster. Hospital Chapel was graced with sprin flowelm and ferns, Saturday, for the wedding ;of Eleanor Jean, - daughter of - Mrs. Forster, Bruce St., London, and Douglas Scott Sangster, elder son of Mrs. Sangster and the late William Sangster, Hensall, Rev. C. W. Cline officiated. Mr. Fred Skillet presided at the organ ,and Mr. Frank. Emery sang "I'll Walk Beside ,You!' prior to the ceremony and "Because" dur- ing the signing of the register. Frilled tiers of net caught with tiny satin bows, featured the skirt of the bridal gown extending into a lang cathedral train. The satin bod- ice was styled with a net yoke out- lined with a frill and a frill fell over. the hand from' the long satin sleeves. A finger-tip veil of French illusion. was held with a pleated headdress and she carried Johana Hill roses and lily -of -valley in a cascade ar- rangement, Mr. Ted Forster of Han- over, uncle of the bride,gave her in marriage, The attendants were Miss Margaret Sangster, Hensall, sister of the groom in blue brocaded ' silk bengaline and Miss Mina Rosser in pink bengaline. They each carried an arm 1$oquet of Talisman roses. The many friends of Mr. Peter L: McNaughton regret to hear he is confined to Toronto General Hospit- al in the interests of his health. " Rev. R. A. Passmore of Salford,' son of Mr. and Mrs, John Passmore of Hensall, was in Toronto recently and attended the closing exercises of Convocation of Emmanuel College at which he received his Bachelor of Divinity Degree. Mr, and Mrs. W. A. MacLaren of Goderich visited recently with friends here. Mrs. Catharine Devlin spent a few days this week with Mrs, Edna Cor- bett. lir. and Mrs. Hilton Laing of Ex- eter were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Moir. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Stanlake and Douglas of Exeter visited re- cently with Mrs. Stanlake's mother Mrs. Hannah Workman.- Councli Meeting The regular meeting of the Vil- lage Council was held May 10th at 8 p.m. in the Council Chambers with all members being present. Minutes of- the previous meeting read. Jones and Tudor, that the minutes be ad- opted as read, carried. A. R. McGlashan and C. R. Hagey, Fort Erie, Contractor and Engineer respectively on the Waterworks were present and discussed over different matters pertaining to the same. It was decided to install a compressor and motor on the suggestion of the Engineer, same to be done at once. Parke And Moir, that by-law 11, regulating the use of the 'Huron County Atlas, and by-law 12, adopt- ing the assessmentand striking the tax rate be given first and second reading. KIPPEN The W.IVLS. of St. Andrew's United Church here met on Wednes- day afternoon at the home of Mrs. Eldon Jarrott with .eighteen mem- bers and several visitors answering the roll call with the letter E. The president, Mrs. Robt. Elgie opened the meeting with the theme "New Comers to Canada". Hymn 252, ver- ses 1-2 were then sung. Mrs. A. 'Gackstetter then read the scripture, Psalm '81: 1-8 and 14-24 and led in prayer. Verses 3-4 of hymn 252 were then sung. The minutes and roll call were then taken by the, secretary, Mrs. John Anderson. A poem in honour of Mother was given by Mrs. Morley Cooper. During the busi- ness discussion Mrs. 'Robert Elgie and Mrs. J. McLean were elected to visit the shut-ins•for the next month. The secretary read letters of thanks from Mrs. Mark Drysdale, Mrs. Wm. Workman and Mrs. Bert Peck. Mrs. John Sinclair gave a report of the Presbyterial held in Hensel recent- ly. The study book was given by Mrs. Harry Caldwell. Marie Jarrott favored with a piano instrumental "Yellow Butterfly." Mrs. Elgie dos- ed the meeting with the benediction. A dainty lunch was served by Circle No. 1. Mr. and Mrs. J. Priestly and fanc- ily of Ailsa Craig and Miss Verna Linden of Denfield visited on Sun- day with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Par- sons. . Chicken pox and mumps are mak- ing the rounds in the community. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Ferguson, and children and Miss Jeanne Lou Pinder and My. and Mrs. Bruce Wilkinson, all of St. Thomas, visited with Mr. and Mrs. A. 'Gackstetter on Sunday. The Y.P.U. of St. Andrew's Unit- ed Church held their spring anniv- ersary on Sunday last with a very good attendance at both services. Large bouquets of spring flowers beautified the sanctuary. The guest speaker at the morning service was Mrs. Wu of China and her timely message was 'enjoyed by all. Special music was furnished by the choir under the leadership of Miss Jean Ivison. The morning anthem was "Stand Up for Jesus." A quartette consisting of Misses B. McClinehey and Mona Caldwell and Messrs. D. Bell and Edison McLean sang -.Be- thel," The evening service at seven - thirty was honoured by the presence of Rev. Williams, chaplain of the R.C.A.F. station,- Centralia. The choir chose for their anthem, "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say," and "He Is My Song," -with Bernys Me- Clinchey and Don Bell taking the duet parts. The Brucefleld United Church pre- sented their play, "Improper Henry Proper," in the United Church here on 'Monday evening last. Mr. and Mrs. S. Baird and sons of Brucefield spent Sunday with rela- tives in the village. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Westlake and children of Bayfield were Sun- day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Har- old Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Green of near Mitchell; Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Green of Egmondville; Mr, and Mrs. Bob Green, of London, were Sunday guests of Mr. Jonah Green, .who.cele- brated his 83rd birthday. May 2.4th will be a gala day for Kippen 'Gun Club when they will hold their annual big shoot at Kip.- Pen, ip=pen, highlights include a 50 bird event for the Vernier Trophy for Kippen members, handicap and prize events, and a five lean shoot for lo- cal district clubs. BLAKE Mr. and Mrs. Merino Martin and family and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Oesch attended the funeral of Mr. Martin's sister last week. Mrs, Jeffrey left recently to visit her daughter at Grand Bend. Mrs. Clarke is at present with her daughter Mrs. C. Attridge in Goder- ich until her health improves. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Swartzen truber were visited by her sister of Kitchener. , Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dueharme and Elva visited at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar and Robert Dueharme. A number of the W.M.S, ladies of Blake Auxiliary attended'` the meet- ing in the Goshen United Church on Thursday afternoon. Quite a number tool: in the auc- tion sate held on Mr, Irvin Ginger ich',s farm last Thursday. WINTHROP The Helping Hand Mission Band held their meeting in the classroom of the church, May 11. The meeting opened with the call to worship. Hymn 405 was• sung and the Mission Hand Purpose was repeated in uni- son. The 23rd psalm was repeated in Unison followed by the Lord's Pray- er. The offering was taken by Mar- jorie Cuthill followed by the re- sponse..The roll call was taken and hymn 614 was sung. The study per- iod was taken by Mrs. Dodds and Ml's, Davidson, then hymli 623 was sung. The meeting closed -with the Benediction.
