Glenn Bell presided over the remain-
der of the program. Following the
minutes ..the roll tall was answered
by using "Life" as a text word. The'
business followed. The matter of rat
tending the Synodical meeting to be
held in Goderich, May 10 -11 -12th
was discussed. Mrs. Bell read an arti-
cle from the Glad Tidings and Mr's.
A. Orr read an article from the Re-
cord. Mrs. Sinclair spoke on the
work our women of the W.M.S. are
doing throughout the church today.
Mrs: Bell moved, a vote of thanks
after which • dainty refreshments
were served. •
Mrs. Harold Bonthron and infant
son Bevan James returned home
from the hospital, London, on Sun-
day.
At recent meeting .of the 1001
School Board the resignations of Mr.
Russel Dennison and Miss Jean
Brandbn were received. Miss Winni-
fred Grey of Staffa and Miss Avery
of Granton.; have been engaged on
the staff for the next term. Mr.
Donald McKaig has been engaged as
caretaker for the school in place of
Mr. Tos. Richardson, who has had
to resign owing to illness.
Hensall Institute
Mrs. A, E. Munn presided at the
annual meeting ;of the Hensall Wo-
men's Institute held in the United
Church Sunday Schoolroom on Tues-
day night, April 19th. The Ode and
Maple Leaf Forever were sung
after which the Institute creed was.
repeated. Mrs: Taylor of Dashwood,
then spoke on behalf of Hospitalize -
tion for Huron County, Minutes
read, annual membership fees re-
ceived. Effective films pertaining to
"Health and school lunches" were
presented by Mr. Victor Dinnen of
Zurich, assisted by Mr. A. Dinnin.
The next item, a letter of resignation
from Mrs. A. Kerslake was read.
Mrs. Kerslake has been the efficient
president of the Hensall Institute
for the past 3 years, therefore the
ladies regretfully accept this resig-

ied by Mrs. C. Forrest. It was moved
by Mrs. Goodwin, seconded by Miss
Ellis, that the Institute give• the an,
nual gift of $2.00 plus an additional
sum of $10.00 to the Guides and
Brownies. It was moved by Mrs.
Beer, seconded by Mrs. A. D. Mc
Ewen, that the Institute donate
$2,5.00 to the Canadian Cancer Fund.

also announced that up to date the
group has raised for the Community
Building Fund, the total amount of
$463.55. An excellent motto "Men
Build Houses — Women Build
Homes" prepared by Mrs. J. McAll-
ister was read by Mrs. R. Elgie,
Sidewalks of. New York was sung.
In the absence of Mrs, S. Rennie the
helpful demonstration "Dressing up
vegetables" was given by Mrs. R.
Maclaren, Mrs. E. Geiger was called
to the platform to conduct the instal-
lation of officers for 1949-1950, the

Case; 2nd vice., Mrs.. A. D. McEwen;

tional anthem sung. On this occasion
Mrs. Parke and Mrs. Brown were
hostesses. Dainty refreshments were
served by the hostesses and the so-
cial committee.
A wedding reception will be held
in the Town hall, Hensall, on Friday
evening April 29th in honour of Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Armstrong. Mur-
doeh's orchestra will furnish the mu-
sic. Ladies please provide.
The regular meeting of the Vil-
lage Council was held in the Council
Chambers with all members being
present except 'Councillor N. Jones.

utes be adopted as read, carried.
F. Harburn reported re the streets
and levelling to bedone by the
Waterworks Contractor. S. Welsh
enquired re water rates for the
saw -mill Tudor and Parke, that we
set the rate for the saw -mill the
same as the Dairy, carried: r. A.
Paterson, tax collector, reported
the arrears of taxes for 1948 as be-
ing $306.47 and was instructed to
hand in the tax roll at next regular
meeting. J. N. Reid applied for a
permit to operate a service station

stating they were practicallly out of

Mr. Lorne Scott appeared re
the G. C. Petty Estate and presented
an atlas of Huron County to the

Egmondville Cemetery
NOTICE
There will be a "Bee" at the Egmondville Cemetery on
Wednesday, May 4, starting at 1 p.m., for the purpose of
straightening the headstones.
We would like to have a good number of those inter-
ested in making this property more attractive, turn out.

news of the death of his brother Mr.
John Rennie. Sympathy of the coln-
munity is felt in his loss of a bro-
