The Toronto Maple Leafs did it
again! Yes, on Saturday night at
Maple Leaf Gar'den's, the Maple
Leafs defended their right to the
Stanley cup for the third consecutive
yearwhen they downed the Detroit
Red. Wings 3-1, to take the Stanley
Cup play-offs by foul,' straight
games.
The Maple Leafs ended the 1948.-
49
945-49 schedule in a fourth place posi-
tion, the last play-off position of the
National Hockey League, and went
into the semi-finals against Boston,
downing them in four of five played
games: .They then proceeded into
the finals to win 'the Stanley Cup.

In this district's 'baseball league
we find that theHensall town hall
was the scene of an organizing meet-
ing for the Huron -Perth Baseball
Clubs with ten clubs participating, in
the league. These teams will play a
single schedule, with nine home
games. •
Around Seaforth the weather
doesn't look much like softball or
baseball weather with snow falling on
Saturday and Monday mornings, but
a meeting was held recently at which
