Mr. Malcolm Toms left on Satur- day, for Port Maitland to bring up the' new boat which, Toms Bros.' have recently purchased. Mrs. Fred McEwen who spent the winter months near Clinton, return- ed to her home in the village this week, Malcolm McLeod left on Tuesday to join his boat at Collingwood for the season. Lobb, President of Huron County Federation of Agricul- ture. Mr. Lobb attended a .meeting• of the Ontario Federation last 'week, when plans were formulated to bring to Clinton Spring Show, the tour of International delegates, who will be attending the• International Federa- tion of Agricultural Producers, at Guelph.Ag'ricultural College, the end of May. This means that representatives of about fifty foreign countries will visit Clinton, and witness the parade of livestock held on the afternoon of Friday, May 27th,' The date hasbeen changed to coincide with thisbig event, and - the parade will be timed with their visit. Never before .have " breeders of livestock in, Huron had the oppor- tunity to display their best strains to representatives of so many dif- ferent countries the world over, and. this promises without doubt, to be the biggest fair ever held in this part of the province. A large delegation from the Coun- ty is attending the .Annual Meeting of Ontario Hog Producers, in Tor- onto this week, at the King Edward Hotel. DUBLIN The directors of the Perth -Huron Shorthorn Breeders' Association niet at Dublin on Friday afternoon and decided to hold their 1b49 show at Stratford fall fair. Grant.of $50 was made to the fair as a similar grant was made to 'Sea - forth fair last year. The directors were told it was the biggest show the association has ever had andthe largest amount of prize money, more than $600, was awarded the exhibit- ors. Harold White, secretary of the Dominion association, asked that the breeders from each of the counties support the county where the shoW was being held. He also pleaded for more support for the parent organ- ization. The meeting also discussed ways of increasing membership. They de- cided to have the directors speak to the breeders in their areas. They also voted to make a 'survey of the stock that was for sale in the two counties. The idea of going on a field trip was discussed but the directors de- cided against it. R. S. Hetherington of Wingham was chosen standard bearer for,: the nest federal election on the first ballot The two other nominees Miss Josie Saunders, Goderich, and Brown Smyth, West Wawanosb, a former Huron County warden, immediately threw their support behind Mr, Heth- erington, making the choice unani- mous. DIES AT MITCHELL Funeral services were held at Mitchell on Monday for John And- rew Elligsen, 73, who died Friday afternoon at Mitchell.
