Community Mourns Loss Of
Mrs. Carl McClinchey
A shadow of gloom was cast over
this community on Thursday last
November 11, when it was learned
that Mrs. Carl McClinchey had lost
her life in' a car -train crash at Ba-
sten. In company with her aunt Mrs.
Levey of Seaforth who also lost her
life and an uncle Louis Trate; of Zu-
rirh, rem her father:, Dan Oswald,
also of Zurich, .tele `four were re-
tnrning home from the funeral of a
cousin, the late Franklin Ruby of
Kitchener.

former Thelma Oswald, only daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Oswald of

was a member of St. Andrew's
United Church here and a very ac-
tive member of the W.M.S., W.A•,
Friendship Circle, and Choir. She
leaves to mourn her loss her sorrow-
ing husband, two daughters, Bernice,
and Virginia, and one small son,
Nelson, all at home; also her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Oswald, of
Zurich,
The funeral which was largely at-
tended was held from her late resi-
dence, 2nd concession of Tucker -
smith, on Sunday afternoon, was
conducted by her pastor, Rev, Albert
Hinton. The mixed quartet of the
Evangelical Church, Zurich, sang
"No Night There" during the i -
ser -
Vice,, -The pall bearers were Robt. El-
ge,`$forley Cooper, Win: 'Caldnvell;
Ross Broadfoot, Robt. MacGregor
and Joe McLellan. There were thirty-
five wreaths of flowers showing the
esteem in which the deceased was
held. The flower bearers were Win-
ston Workman, Dick Taylor, Harry
Caldwell, William Taylor, Nelson
Howe, Ross Sararas, William Par-
sons, Edison McLean, Earl Kinsman,
Edgar McBride, Donald Dayman,
Ross Chapman, Ernie Chipehase,
Ernie Whitehouse, Wilmer Fergu-
son, Wm. Bell, Bert Riley, Jack Sin-
clair. Interment was in the Evangeli-
cal Bronson Line Cemetery, Zurich.

held their monthly meeting with Mrs

from the missionary monthly; scrip-
ture readings were given by Mrs. A.
Zapfe. After the business reports of
the sectional meeting of the Presby
tenial were given by 'VD's. W. Scott
and Mrs. R. Allan, the missionary
program from the study book was
taken by Mrs. R. Allan, Mrs Stan-
way, Mrs. H. Aikenhead and Mrs C.
Haugh. Prayer was given by Miss E.
Bowey and after singing Mrs. Spoil
closed the meeting with prayer..

of Ono-., St. Church, Clinton, occu-
pied the pulpit, After the service a
reception was held for the people to
meet Rev, Wu and to learn more
about China,
