MacLean spent several days during this week in Toronto with her father who.is ill. Rev. R. A. Brook conducted anni- versary services in the United Church at Wyoming on Sunday. Dr.Norma. Cook of Orillia spent the weekend at the home of her par- ents Mr. and Mrs. N. E. 'Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Cassidy and Blanche of Otterville spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Walker Carlisle and family. Mr. pad 'Mrs, Geo. Petty of De- troit spent theweekend • with Mr. and Mrs. Wni. Petty. Mrs. F. G. Bonthron who has been confined to her room owing to illness is improving: Miss Mae Schwalm of London, spent theweekend with her mother, Mrs. Violet Schwalm. Mr. Gordon Moir has accepted a position at the Bonthron Furniture Store and has commenced his duties there. Miss Florence Welsh visited dur- ing the past week with relatives in Toronto. Mr. A. A. Spencer and Miss Mavis Spencer spent a few days during the past week in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker and family spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Otis Minor and family in Fort Huron. Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Cook spent a few days in Toronto during the past week. Mrs. Susan Workman of Kippen risited recently with Mr. and Mrs. John. MacBeath. Miss Grace Brock of London spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. Flossie Brock. ' Mr. E. L. Mickle visited recently with bis parents Mr. and Mrs. Geo. L. Mickle in Ridgetown. The Institute of South Huron dis- trict have chosen Citizenship Confer- ences -Developing Community Enter- prises- as one type of service for the year. The meetings wi11 be held at Exeter on November 4th and at Seaforth on November 5th. This tyre of meeting should be of inter- est and benefit to all Institute mem- bers and to non-members of the community. Please plan to attend success. Mr. and Mrs, J. D. The Main Street in Hensall - has received a new surface. The work being :doneby the Brennan Con- struction Co., Miss Violet McClymont has ac- cepted a position at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. E. Hemphill and commenced her duties there this week. Friends of Mr. Gordon Parker of Exeter are pleased to hear he is im- proving following his recent opera- tion in St. Joseph Hospital, London. Mrs. John Simmons is 'convalesc- ing following her recent illness. Bailey—Richard In James Street United Church, Exeter, Rev. H. J. Snell performed a double ring ceremony uniting. in marriage Marjorie Corsina, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Richard, Exeter, and Mr. Lou Turner Bailey, only son, of Mr. and- Mrs. Ralph Bailey, Exeter. Traditional wedding music was played by the bride's aunt, Mrs. W. E. Gardiner, Meaford, and the bridegroom's uncle, Mr, E. A. Collings, of London, was soloist. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father, She wore a white slipper satin gown with ba- teau neckline. The bouffant skirt in tunic effect extended into a train. Her full-length veil was held in place by a lace halo caught at the sides with orange blossoms. She wore a single strand of pearls and a gold bracelet worn by her grandmother, Mrs. Parsons, on her wedding day, and carried a sweetheart cascade of Better Times roses and gardenias. Miss Alma Richard was her sister's maid of honor, wearing an identical gown of aqua silk taffeta and carry- ing bronze mums and Talisman roses. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors. For a wedding trip to Chi- cago and Jamesville, Wisconsin, the bride changed to a navy blue Eng- lish gabardine suit with which she wore a Victoria wine hat and top- coat with navy accessories and a cor- sage of gardenias, Mr. and Mrs. Bailey will reside in Seaforth. SPORTS Men's Senior 'A' . The Chesley Blue Bombers down- ed the Seaforth Bosharts five to two in the second game of the Chesley- Seaforth series. This win put Ches- ley out in front by two games to none. Kennedy, for the locals, struck out four and allowed five free pas- ses. Somers, for Chesley, struck out five and walked one of the Boshart batters. The only home run of the game was brought in by Bill Smith in the eighth inning with Mulford on base .with a single.
