The former John Brodhagen farm
has been sold to Mr. Ralph Moore
of Wartburg.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Green and
Audrey moved to Glanworth near
London on Friday where they pur-
chased a general store. They were
residents here for the past two years
in the hardware business.
On Thursday evening neighbors
and members of the Farm Forum
Mgathered at the home. of Mr. and
rs. Clarence Green • prior• to their
leaving for Glanworth. Mrs. John
Amstein read a suitable address and
they were presented with a beauti-
ful chenille bedspread and Audrey
was the recipient of a lovely cup and
saucer and handkerchiefs. The even-
ing was spent in playing. progressive
Flea, after which lunch was served.
Quite a number from here attend-
ed a shower in the Legion rooms in
Mitchell on Tuesday `evening for
VIr. and Mrs, Eric Lealess (Dorothy
Wolfe)I newlyweds.
Mrs, Harry Tait returned home
from. 'Stratford hospital,
On Thursday afternoon tine pup-
ils of the school presented Miss
Audrey. Green prior to departure
Glamvorth with a billfold, picture
and picture holder.
A shower in honor of Mr. and
Mrs, Carl Hillebrecht -(Vera Eck-
mier) newlyweds, was held in Hinz'
hall on Friday evening. They were
presented with a davenport, indiv-
idual gifts and money. The evening
was spent in -progressive euchre,
prizes going to Mrs. Wm. Eisler and
Pat Flanagan. and Oscar Eickmier
the prize for the lucky chair. Danc-
ing was enjoyed' after lunch.
.Mrs. Dalton Hinz, Kenneth, Aud-
rey and Gerald and Mrs. C. Sippel
visited Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Ruby
near Tavistock on Sunday.
Mr. Roy Amstein of Kitchener
spent the week end at his home,
Mrs. J. Amstein and Robert spent
Monday in Kitchener.
Mr. and Mrs. Dickson and daugh-
ter of Teeswater visited with their
son, Mr. Ford Dickson, on Saturday
The Ladies' Aid held a social ev-
ening in the church basement on
Wednesday evening with their hus-
bands as guests. It was the celebra-
tion of the Ladies' Aid members who
have their birthday in the first four
months of the year. A short pro -
•rani was followed by playing pro-
gressive crokinole, prizes going to
Mrs. Henry A. Bennewies, Hernial)
Hinz, Mrs. Reuben Buuck and Reu-
ben Buuck. A deliciuos lunch was
served.

There was a good attendance at
the April meeting of the W.A. on.
April 6th. In' the absence of the
President, Miss Bowey, Mrs. l'ic-
Beath' was in charge. Mrs. Johnston
was pianist. The creed was repeated
in unison and hymn 348 was sung.
Mrs. McQueen led in prayer. Thank
you letters from Mrs. J. Broadfoot
an Mrs. G. Elliott were read. The
roll call was answered by a house-
hold 'hint Many items of business
were transacted and some sugges-
tions for articles for the bazaar to
be held in the fall were given. Two
committees to raise funds for the
next two months otnt s were appointed:

Johnston,. The roll call for May will
be a verse for Mother's Day. The
May meeting ovill be visitors day.
Meeting came to a close with the
'singing of the W.A. hymn and the
prayer. A social time . followed. A
duet by Mrs. Johnston and Mrs. Me -
+Beath was much enjoyed and was
followed by a contest in charge of
Mrs. Johnston. The committee ap-
pointed for March 'then served a
delicious lunch.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Swan have ta-
ken up residence in the village af-
ter spending their honeymoon at
Niagara Falls and Cleveland.
Mrs, G. Griffith was the recipient
of many useful gifts at the recep-
tion held in her honor in the school
room) of the church on Wednesday
evening, March 31st.

Rev. G. F. N. Atkinson of Appin
called on some of his old friends
last week.
Miss Ina Scott and Miss Ellen
Scott of London spent the week end
at the homes of their brothers in
the village.
Mr. and Mrs, T. Dunlop of Lon-
don visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ross
Scott anti family on Sunday.
Mr. James Walker of Brandon,
Mann„ who attended the funeral of
his sister, Mrs. F. Wilson a month
ago, left for his home on Monday
by motor. He was accompanied' by
Mr. Jim Paterson.
A miscellaneous–shower was held
for the bride -elect, Miss Grace Dal-
rymple, on Monday evening in the
schoolroom of the church.
Mrs. W. Nesbitt who has pneum-
onia was taken to Seaforth hospital
on Tuesday. -
VARNA
Mr. and Mrs. A. Horner and dau-
ter moved last week to their new
home in Exeter and Mr. and Mrs.
Hayter and family moved to their
new home east of the village,
Mrs. Grieve and little son, after
spending the past six weeks with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. Elliott,
left last week to join her husband
in Brantford where they will reside.
Mrs. A, Austin held a sale of her
household effects on Saturday.
Service in St. John's Anglican
Church will be held at 7 p,m. until
further notice.
BAYFiELD
Mrs. Chailes Berry left on Sun-
day to spend the week hi London.
Miss Jessie Metcalf who spent
the Easter vacation with her moth-
er, returned to Detroit on Sunday.
Mrs. Sherlock Keyes returned to
Varna on Monday after being with
her mother, Mrs. M. .MacKenzie for
the past three weeks.
