Little Carol Brown returned home after spending sev- eral weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Neeb in Tavistock. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Davidson of Sarnia visited on Sunday with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Davidson. - Misses Barbara 'Michie and June Brandon returned to resume their duties here following et jpleasant holiday at their homes. Mrs. 0. Twitchell and Mm'ney re- turned home after spending a week with Mr, and Mrs'. Allen Davidson in Sarnia. Clan on Minstrels Aid Hensall Fund A minstrel show featuring "Man mie and her Chocolate Drops," from Wesley Willis Church, Clinton, pre- sented a splendid entertainment in Hensall town hall Wednesday.The show was sponsored by the Hensall Chamber of Commerce with pro- ceeds for Hensall and district rec- reational and educational centre. Mr. E. L. Mickle spoke briefly and introduced the interlocutress, Mrs. Oakes. Pianist was Mrs. Morgan Agnew; end men, Mrs. Cooke, Miss Viola Fraser, Mrs. Shearing, Mrs. B. Pocklington, Mrs. 0. L. Paisley, Mrs. W. McEwan, Mrs. Reg Ball, Miss Helen Cook. Soloists were Mrs. Oakes, Miss Viola Fraser, NIrs. M. Nediger. Assisting were Adam Ste- wart and Bill Mutch, old time fid- dlers, with Mrs. F. Dayman of Cha- tham, guitarist. Miss Donna Rigby returned to her home in Blenheim after spending the holidays with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McQueen. Mr. William Hyde, 84 -year-old farmer of Hensall, will compete at the Western sports fair in London Thursday night. Mr. Hyde has been playing the violin for 72 years and during the past 21 years he has won 10 silver prizes, 19 money prizes and dozens of other prizes. Mrs, Robert Simpson returned home from a visit in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Bell of Lon- don visited recently with relatives in and around Hensall, tad, • Gordon Albert Pybus.— Gordon Albert Pybus, a native of the Chiselhurst district, died at his home on the Parr line, Hay town- ship, on Friday in his 61st year. He was a member of Hensall United Church, Surviving is his widow, the former Eva Ricker, and three dau- ghters, Jean and Mildred of Lon- don, and Margaret at home, also one brother, William Pybus, Exeter. Funeral service was held from the late residence on Monday at 2 pan. conducted by Rev. R. A. Brook and interment in Exeter cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Refuse of London visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Baynham. Mr. E. L. Mickle and Mr. Thos. Welsh axe in Toronto this week on business. Mrs. R. M. Kirby and Miss Rober- ta Kirby visited relatives in St. Thomas. Rev. P. A. and Mrs. Ferguson at- tended the induction in Knox Pres- byterian Church, Goderieh, Friday evening when Rev. Robert 0. Mac- Millan of Atholstan, Que., was in- ducted as minister there. John Wood.— John Wood, well known district farmer, died at his home in Tuck- ersmith, two miles east of Hensall, . on Saturday in his 84th year. He was born in this district and has spent his entire life here. He was a valued member of Carmel Presby- terian Church and member of the session. Surviving are two sisters, Mary and Eliza and one brother, Frank. Funeral service was held from Bonthron's funeral home on Tuesday at 2 p.m,, conducted by Rev. P. A. Ferguson. The pallbear- ers were Messrs. Glenn Bell, Melvin Traquair, John Pepper, Wilbur Dill- ing, John Stewart, Wm. Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers were session members, Sidney MacArthur, Wm. Bell, John Craig, J. W. Bonthron, Geo. Tenney, Earl Campbell, W. R. r Davidson, Stewart McQueen. Inter- ment in Hensall Union cemetery. Walker-Dougall— A pretty wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Dougall at 12 o'clock noon on Sat., April 3rd when their eldest daugh- ter, Marion Fletcher, was united in marriage to George Edward Walker, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Wal- ker, Edmonton. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. R. A. Brook against' -a, background of spring flowers, daffodils and pink snapdragons. The bride wore a hea- venly blue crepe ensemble with black accessories and carried Amer- ican Beauty roses with white heath- er. Her sister, Mrs. Douglas Hugh - son, as bridesmaid, wore beige silk jersey ensemble with brown access- ories and talisman roses. Mr. Doug- las Hughson attended- the groom. Mr. Milne Rennie of Seaforth sang "The Lord's Prayer," prior to the ceremony, and "I'll Walk Beside Thee," during the signing of the register. Mrs, Milne Rennie, aunt of the bride, played the bridal music, and accompanied the soloist. A re- ception followed at the 'Knotty Pine Tnn, London at 2.30 p.m. For tra- velling the 'bride wore a navy blue, tailored suit and corsage of red carnations. Miss Stella Robinson of Toronto is spending a pleasant holiday with her sister Mrs. Arnold. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Case returned home from a pleasant hal: day in Phoenix, Arizona, and Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, California. 34rs. Adair of Lucan visited re- cently atthe home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Adair. 1I . and Mrs. Don Evans and son returned to Waterloo after the holi- day at the home of Mrs. Evans' par- ents, Mr. and Mra. R. Y. MacLaren. Mr. and Mrs. Mac Greer of Lon- don visited recently with 1VIrs. Greer's parents, Mr. and Mrs, J. W. Bonthron. ' BLYTH Robert Cornwall' McDonald died. suddenly at' his Moine in Blytli fol- lowing a heart attack. Mr. McDonald had been in poor health for the past three years. Last month he held a sale of the Stock and implements on his farm, having Sold the farm on the 9th concession of Morris to Mr. Badley of Hespeler, and the day preceding his death he and his three slaughters hacl moved to their new home in Blyth. He was a sots of the late Malcolm McDonald and Katherine McArthur McDonald, He was born -on March 26, 1575. On Sept. 11, 1918, he married Isabell Sanderson of Hallett; who died 13 years ago. Surviving are his three dattgghters, Misses Katherine, Eclna and Isabell McDonald, all at hone; three brothers and two sisters, Peter McDonald, 13th con. of Hallett; Colin McDonald, Hullett boundary; Duncan N. McDonald, Brussels; Mrs, W. (Elizabeth) Grainger, Walton; Mrs. W. (Annie) Ferris, Provost, Alta. Internment was in Brussels cemetery. BLAKE Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lamont attended the Masonic banquet at Kippen on Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Roy McBride attend- ed the funeral of a relative at Kin- cardine on Saturday. The W.M.S. will hold their April meeting at the home of Mrs. Clarence Parke on Thursday evening, April 8, at 8 o'clock, Mrs. R. McBride's group in charge of the meeting. Mrs. Pat Quigley, of the 7th con,, is very low. Her 'many friends hope for a change for the better soon. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hoggart cele- brated their 25th wedding anniver- sary on Sunday. Miss Dorothy Little, Miss Helen Lear and Miss Helen McGregor have returned to their schools after spending the holidays at the homes of their parents. The regular monthly meeting of Hullett township council took place April 5th in the community hall, Londesboro at 2 p.m. The reeve and all members of the council were present. Minutes of the last regular and special meeting of Man 22nd and 25th were read and ap- proved. The tenders for gravellju th roads of Township of Hallett were e opened. Hunter re Peter Glazier's claim, to Mr. Frank Don- nelly to take proper procedure. A letter was then read from the War Amputations of Canada re pensions. Moved by Wm. J. Dale and Geo. C. Brown that we comply with the resolution presented by the War Amputation of Canada. Moved by J. Ira Rapson and Wei,. J. Jewitt that Emmerson Hesk be appointed for Hallett as member of Clinton High School Bd. Lost,. CONSTANCE Mr. and Mrs, J. J. Hugill have re- turned from Stratford where they spent the winter to their home near Constance. DUBLIN Ferns, Easter lilies and spring flowers adorned the alter of St. Pak rick's Church, Dublin, Monday morn: ing for the marriage of Marian Isabelle; second eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John:M. Meagher; Dublin, to Mr. Michael Francis Stock, London, eldest son of Mr. Peter J. Stock,:Kin- kora, and the late Mrs. Stock, Rev, Di' J, B. Ffoulkes officiated at : the ceremony at 10 o'clock. Mother M. Francis Clare presided at the organ, and the, choir of the Ursuline ,School sang during the nuptial plass. Given in marriage by her father, -the bride wore a floor -length gown of bro- caded satin fashioned with nylon -yoke' and lily -point sleeves, The skirt ex- tended into a slight tram. A strand of pearls was Iter. only jewellery, and her long gracefiil yell was held in place with a tiara of pearls. She car. ried a bridal bouquet of red roses. The' maid of honor, Miss Alpholnine Meagher, sister of the bride,, and the bridesmaid, Mies Arthemise Lassaline, Virginiatown, wore similar gowns of taffeta made in floor -length style with nylon yokes, and large puff sleeves. Miss Meagher's gown was In spring green shade and the brides - Maid's gown was in a yellow gold shade. They wore hats to match their gowns with yellow and green plums cascaded at the side; and matching gloves completed their costumes. They carried nosegays of spring flowers, 1VIr. Joseph. Stock, Kinkora, brother of the groom, was best man, Mr. Gerrard Stock, Kitchener, and Mr, Harold Meagher, Dublin, acted as ushers. The wedding dinner was held at the Royal Hotel, Mitchell, -for the immediate family. Later in the after- noon a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, Dublin. The 'bridle's mother received guests wearing a black figured dress with nylon trimming with which she chose black accessories. Her hat was of black milau straw and figured ribbon. Her corsage was of pink roses and sweet peas. Miss Martina Stock, sister of the groom, who also received, chose a pale blue jersey frock, with acces- sories la matching shade, and wore a corsage of pink roses. Following the reception Mn and 1VIrs. Stock left by motor on their wed- ding trip visiting points east. The bride wore for traveling a gabardine suit in raspberry shades, and grey top coat accented with black accessories. On their return they will reside In London, Out-of-town guests attending the Stock -Meagher wedding included Miss Artilemise Lassaline of Viiginiatown, Ont., Mrs. Annie Flynn, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Meagher, London, Ilii. Gerrard Stock, hitcilener," Miss Veronica Blake and Theresa Shur - back, both of London, KIPPEN A very enjoyable evening was held at the hone of Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Murray recently when friends and neighbors gathered to honor thein prior to moving to their new home in Exeter. They were present- ed with a beautiful tri -light floor lamp, and Rena a lovely bed lamp. Progressive euchre was played till lunch. Mr. and. MTs. Murray and Rena were then asked to be seated on three chairs, Mr. Jack McKay read the address and Mr. Lorne Hay made the presentation "Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Murray and Rena. Dear friends,—.It is with mingled feelings that we, a group of your neighbors, have gathered here tonight for this social evening. We cannot help but regret that you are leaving our community in which you have always taken such an ac- tive part, It is also with rather a feeling of envy that we'll know that as we continue to strive against the elements of nature, that this will not be on your new schedule. To you, Cecil, we owe much when it comes to your ability as our me- chanical handy man and we fear that there will be many times in the future that we would Five a great deal to have , you within our beck and call. Now as you are about to leave our midst we could not let the occasion pass without expressing our sincere wishes for yourfuturehealth, happiness and , prosperity,. We hope you will visit us often and - not sever entirely the bond of nei- ghborliness that now exists, We trust your new hone will bring you much happiness and contentment. HARLOCK Jeanne Gibbings was voted , the winner of the Junior Girls' oratori- cal contest at the Clinton collegiate institute, her subject being "Barb- ara Ann Scott." Three other con- testants also took part. Yvonne'. Thompson was a close second and Barbara Middleton and Elaine Mc- Adam also spoke. Each contestant received a book and the winner a shield.
