Carmel Church Young People held
their regular meeting on Monday
evening, Jan. 26th. The president,
Mr. Clarke Kennedy, conducted the
worship period. The meeting opened
by singing "Come to the Saviour".
The scripture lesson, St. Mark, chap-
ter 6: 35-46 was read by Mr. Clarke
Kennedy. Mrs. Alf Scholl led " in
prayer. A singsong led by Mrs.
Charles Forrest was enjoyed by all,
favourites ofthe-young people, "Old
Black Joe", "Old Folks at Home",
"Home on the Range" "Afton Wat
er" and. others. Rev. -Ferguson Mt-
pired a Bible baseball contest based
on the scripture reading Mark 6:
35-46. Minutes, roll call, business
hhymn after Which h "Saviour
like a Shepherd lead us", • Several
games were played and enjoyed by
all. Doughnuts and coffee brought
the meeting to a successful close..
At a special meeting of the Vil-
lage Council held on Monday even-
ing the tender of Mr. Lee Heddon
as Utility man for the town was ac-
cented. Duties to commence Feb. 1.
Mr. Donald Walker of Toronto
spent the weekend with his parents
Mr. and Mrs. George Walker.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Davidson of
Sarnia spent Srinday with their par-
ents iVtr. and Mrs. W. R. Davidson
and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Twitchell.
Mrs. W. B. Cross has been con-
fined to her room owing to inflama-
tion in her eyes.
Miss Wilma Kyle of Kippen has
accepted a position at the local of-
fice of the Bell Telephone.
Mrs. M. Greer of London, visit-
ed recently with her parents Mr. and
Mrs. J. W. Bontlu'on.
Miss Goldie Cross. R. N. of Lon-
don, spent the weekend with hes

Mr. Cecil Harris, who has been an
employee with Illi. John Henderson
for the past several years has re-
signed and accepted a position as
book-keeper at Passmore's garage.
The Sacrament of the Lord's Sup-
ner will be dispensed in Carmel
Presbyterian Church on Sunday,
Feb. 1st at 11 a.m. conducted by
P AV. P. A. Ferguson. Preparatory
r, -ice will be held on Thursday,
Ian. 29 at 8:15 p.m.
The mutual congregational meet-
ing of the Hensall United Church
will be held on Friday, Jan. Roth in
the school -room of the church.
The young people of Chiselhurst
TTnited Church held a most success-
ful skating party at the local rink on
Friday evening, after which refresh-
ments were served.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Parke visited
recently with Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Corbett and family.
The. Sunshine Mission Band of
Carmel Presbyterian Church, com-
menced their regular meetings in
the school -room of the church on
Monday at 4:15 p.m. with a good
enrollment. Mrs. P. A. Ferguson
presided, stressed the importance

good Samaritan. The roll call was
answered by a favorite Bible story
and the theme was "Good Neigh-
bors" reviewed from the study
book by' Mrs. Ferguson. The hymn
"Tell rate the Story of Jesus" con-
cluded the meetings.

We regret to mention Mrs. Ger-
tie Reidwas called to the bedside of
her only brother, Cecil Wiley, who
suffered a severe stroke . in his
home in Detroit two weeks ago. Ce-
oil is a Stanley boy and his many
friends are sorry to know of his ill-
nessthe best.

ion of Orn Dowson who is • at pre-
sent in Toronto undergoing rigid
treatment and we hope he may have
benefit from the treatment.
Mrs. J. Rathwell is spending
some time with friends in Clinton.
Owing to the severity of the
weather, service was called off in St.
John's Church, Sunday.
Through the circulation of our
local papers T wish to thank the
many readers in Sask. Clinton, Hay-
field and others who forgot to sign
their names but I thank then all for
the hundreds of stamps sent to me
through the medium of the local
papers.
Mr. and Mrs. M. Elliott are hav-
ing a vacation in Stratford.
Mrs. Frank Grieve and little son
of Brucefield, are visiting the Elliott
Bros. at the parental home.
