Anyone desiring new books will please hand in their suggestions to anyone on this com- mittee before that date. Again we would remind all those having library books in their possession to please leave the sante at the library that they may be re -catalogued. The Sunday School of Bethel Unit- ed Church will hold their Chirstmas concert Tuesday evening, December 22nd. BLYTH. White Gift Service A large crowd attended the annual White Gift ser- vice held in Queen street United 'Church on Sunday evening. A pag- eant, "The Spirit of Christmas," was given and the many gifts were pres- ented by pupils of the Sunday School. Mrs Gladys Fawcett gave the read- ing on "The First White Gift" A la- dies' quartette, "The Prince of Peace was given by Mesdames H. Mc'Edroy, I}. Floody, \5,rm. Gibson, and R. Wal- lace. A male quartette. 'Silent Night" was given by Messrs. Irvine Wallace, Harold \Vightman, Win. Lyons and David Floody. Mrs. 4\m Th ueli entertained Miss McNair and Mr. Ashton, teachers of Blyrh Public School, also about forty of their pupils on Thursday evening last, prior to Mr, Ashton leaving for, Brussels, where he will teach, Mrs. Farssh of Denfield expects to spend the winter months with her sis- ter, Mrs. R. 13. :McGowan, Mr. and Mrs. MoNabh moved on Saturday hack to their home near Brussels from the house which they occupied for several months. Mr, Arthur Steinhoff, a well known citizen Of Blyth, died on Sunday nvor- nitvg about 7:30 o'clock, after three years of invalid life. During the last twelve months he was given constant attention by his daughters, Miss Phe- mia Steinhoff and Mrs. Geo. Leith. His daughter, Mrs. 'Win, Johnston of ILyletan, Manitoba, spent a few weeks at home last summer, The deceased is also survived by one son, Mr, George Steinhoff. of ,Blyth. Mr, Stein - Koff was 83 years of age. Mrs, Stein- hoff, who was 'formerly Miss McGow- an, died a,few years ago. McElroy, Mr. Bert 'MeElroy entitled "The Wheat Field." The first verse of "We Give Thee but Thane Own." and the dedication hymn were sung, During the business part of the meeting it was decided that we would have no meeting next week.
