Case have re- turned home after a pleasant visit with friends in Detroit and other points. -Mr. Eldred Smith left last week lor London to attend the •University of Western Ontario there. 4r. Jahn Dack od Orillia, was a recent visitor with his mother here. Rally Day services were hid in the Sabbath school of the United Church on Sunday morning last. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and a large number were pre- sent, An interesting and well rend- ered program was given as follows: instrumental, Miss Irene Douglas; trio, by Misses Olive Brock, Minnie Sangster and Katheryn Drysdale. Ad - 'dresses were given by Mrs. Hugh McEwan and Mr. John Rowcliffe. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Scott of To- ronto are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Petty. Mr. Win. Simpson of Detroit spent the week end with friends and relat- ives in town. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Sweitzer and children and Mrs. Robt. Higgins vis- ited relatives in Kitchener on Thurs- day. The appeal of Reeve Geiger againit his business assessment was ,held here before the county judge last week. A number of flax amen in the county gave evidence in favor of Mr. Geiger's appeal. Mr. ,Geiger, claims he is not a manufacturer, simply using in his mills the material he grows himself. J. G. Stanbury appeared for Mr, Gei- ger and Councillor 'Consitt for the council and the town, Judge Thom- as M. Costello reserved his decision. Mr. Alpine MciEwan has returned home after spending this last few months on road work outside of 'Walkerton. Mr. MeEvean is a finish- er and during this last two years has finished 45 miles of cement road. Miss Violet Willis of Decker, Mich. is visiting for a few days' with friends in town. Mr. Jas. Priest is spending a few days with friends in Atwood. 'Miss Mary Tont o'f Exeter spent Monday visiting with Mrs. John Mur- dock. Mrs, T. C. Joynt and Mrs, R.
