The Late Mrs. Hagan.—One of the
few remaining of an earlier genera-
tion, passed away at her home on the
Parr Line, Hay township, on Sunday
evening, Sep'tennber 6th, 19'3.1, in the
person of the late Anne Hagan, wife
of the late James Hagan. The deceas-
ed had been in her usual health until a
few weeks ago and with the great ad-
vance.of her age she passed peacefully
away in the ripe age of nearly 89
years, The funeral was held from her
late residence on Wednesday morning
at 9.30 to the R:C, Church in Zurich
of which the deceased was a devoted
member. Rev, Father Power of Zur-
ich conducted' the service. Those left
to mourn the loss of a kind mother
are: Five sons and five daughters and
ane son, Dr. Edward, who predeceas-
ed her s✓me years ago. Those re-
maining at home are Miss Dolly and
Frank, Mother Angela of Chatham;
Mrs. Clark of Detroit; Dr, John and
'Dr. Lawrence. of Chicago; Miss Mary
of London; James, of Seaforth; Pe-
ter of Portland, Oregon, and' Mrs,
Big'dby, of Seattle. The sympathy of
their many friends is extended to
them in their sad loss.

Mrs. Landsborough will be glad to
hear that she is recovering from her
serious illness.

The meeting was called to order by
the devotional leader, singing hymn

with hytn+tii'6912. The president, 'Mfrs.
Alex: Broadfoot, took the 'business
part of the meeting. All reports were
read and adopted. Roll call was well
responded to, The topic, a sketch olf
Merry' 1 England, was read ley 'Miss
Marks and was very interesting.
(Work for the next meeting was plan-
ned:All me'm'bers and any of the
ladies who would rare to help make a
block or two, 18in e22inches of any
cotton fit to sew patch work on or any
woollen or heavy material—ne 'fancy
stitching required, kindly leave your
blocks at the home of 'Mrs. L. Forrest
or Mrs, H. Zapfe of Brucefield before
the 1st of October as they will finish
them to be ready to quilt at the next
meeting, October Sth, in the basement
of the church. A request has been
made to the different societies for the
needy, We hope for a good supply to 'f
