dation in co-operation with the Agri
cultural Societies is seeking to encour
age horse impro've'nien't through the
medium :of Boys' Clubs,
.Seaforth district, being noted fol
its fine quality off horses, has been
fortunate in being chosen by the as-
sociation for a club, as tliere, is only
once allotted to dach'connty..
(Since the advent of tractors and
autos, the horse has been badly neg-
lected, the young meat and 'boys drift-
ing towards machinery and, leaving:
the feiend of the land to detteriorate.
All owners of a foal of 1931 and'
having a boy between the ages of 10
and l8 years, should encourage his
,toy to eater 'this club. 'G'ood prizes
are. being .given', colts are judged on
points as well as horsemanship ex-
hibited by the boy, No entry fee in
this class.
'Following are the rules:
1.....Members must be boys over 10
and under 18 years of age at the time
of showing.
2. Each Club must have at least
40 members.
3. All foals must be sired by reg-
istered pure bred sire.
'5. Competitor must, so .fat as pos-
sible, have fed, cared for and fitted his
animal for at least two mionbhsimme-
diately previous to the date of the
exhibition (,and must himself exhibit
tli:e animal in the show ring when
judged or paraded; and must take ex-
clusive charge Of the animal during
'the show). N'o 'outside ass•iistance in
preparing 'the animal for the show will
be permitted. This is a boys' show,
and 'parenits, guardians or anyone else
must leave this work to the exhibitor;
This rule will be strictly enforced.
b. All foals in this competition
must be shown without shoes and
shall carry only such decorations as
are made by the boy himself.

On Wednesday morn'inig there pass-
ed away after some months' illness,
(William George Pethick, aged 36
years! Mr. Petthick came from Strat-
ford last winter and with his family
went on a 100 -acre farm on the n'in'th
concession, Harnett To'wnslhip. In Ap-
ril, while on the farm he became quite
ill and since then slowly his cond'itioai 1
grew wnouse until recently he was tak-
en to Soobt Memorial Hospital, Sea
,forth, passing away there on Wednes-
day at 111 a,m, yfr. Pethick was born
near Winthrop and. after his .marriage'
fourteen years ago to Miss Mabel
/Armstrong, daughter of Air. and Mrs,
Matthew Armstrong, Hufleft, he was
enlployed fn a Lon'd'on hardware
store. He returned to Sea'forth to
'work for Dir. Mackay and' remained in
tolwn for ten years, ..going to Exeter
over a year ago where he purchased a
gasoline Station, and was in Stretford
for a few months.

who has 'been ill and duirinlg her late
huslb'anid's illness in the hospital Mrs,
iPe'thfok was confined to bed at the
'home of Mr. and Mrr.,Ran'ds in town;
and, one son, Gordon: Three brothers
also survive, John and Sant of Me-
