Mr. and Mrs. Bertram North and Mrs, Ro'bert Higgins visited friends in 'Woodstock on Tuesday. The executive of the Conservative Association held a meeting- in the town hall on Friday evening last. The annual meeting of the Conser- vatives of South Huron will be held here in the town hall on 'Monday af- ternoon, June 29th. Mr. and Mrs, Len Scanlon of Kit- chener spent the holidays at their home here. 'Mr. Miller of Kitchener was a hall- •day visitor at the home .of Mr. and Mrs. C.'.Seaman. spent Mr. Allan Talbot of London ll p the holiday at the home of Dr. and Mrs Collyer. Mrs. Alex. Mrs. Milton Ortwein of London spent the holiday with her mother, Mrs. Peter Munn. Mr. Robert Paterson is having his house painted this week, which greatly adds to its already attractive appear- ance. Mrs, Carrie Ballantyne was in Strat- ford last week attending the funeral of a relative. Mrs. D. MdLean spent a few days last week visiting her sister, Mrs. Mc- Tavish, of +S,t. Thomas. The play entitled, '`Eyes of Love," will be put on in the town hall by the Listowel Dramatic Club on Monday evening, June lst, under the auspices of the Hensall United Church choir. The play is filled with comedy, pathos and a thrilling situation and a beauti- ful story. Mies «''innifred Anderson, AT:C. M.. and others, will provide numbers between acts. The caste has been trained by a professional actor. A quiet wedding was solemnized on Saturday at the Presbyterian Church parsonage when Miss Greta Jean For- rest, daugther of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Forrest, of Hay township, was united in marriage to Mr, Thomas Gladwin. Lavender, of Millsburg. The Rev: Dr. Mctlroy officiated, and the atten- dants were Miss Mary Forrest and Mr. Ward Forrest, sister and brother to the bride. The bride was becom- ingly dressed in blue canton crepe with accessories to match. The young couple left on a short trip to London and other points and an their return they will reside in Hensall, Mr. Chas. Wolff, who has the con- tract ontract for the brick work on Mr. Harry Soldan's new houses on the London Road, has about completed his job. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Sweitzer, who have been spending a few days with relatives in town were the guests of Mr, and Mrs. William Higgins of Clinton. Mr. William McKay, of 'Rogers- ville, is visiting at the home cif his daughter, Mrs. William Sheppard. Miss Stella Ingram of Detroit spent the holidays at her home here. Mr. and Mrs, 'Ernest 'Pepper of Sarnia, spent the week end with friends here. Mr. Edgar Stewart .of Toronto spent the' holidays at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. Foss. Mr. George 'McKee and Mr. games Mose, of McKillop, were in town on Friday. Mr, and Mrs, Mrs. Alex. Mc-Mur- trie spent the holidays at the former's hone here. Miss 11ildred McDonnell of Guelph is visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs, Chas. McDonnell, Mrs, iBertha Ball of Toronto spent the holidays with friends here. Mr. 'Lester iFisher of Windsor spent the week end at his home here. Dr. and .Mrs. .Cam'p'bell and family spent the holidays at the home of Mrs. 'Thos. Murdock. Miss Ethel Murdock assisted in the post office last week during the ab- sence of Miss Maude ,Hedden, Mrs. Voir of Toronto spent a few days visiting at the home of Mrs. Robert IBonthron. Mrs, Lorne 'Thompson of Toronto is visiting with her parents, -Mfr. and. Mrs, John Fisher. llr. and Mrs. Otto Stephens of Hay township, have moved to the village and are now residing in the house formerly occupied by Mrs. T. Appleton. Mr. and 'Mfrs. Alfred Hunkin and family of Thames Road spent the hol- iday at the home of Mr. W. L. Mc- Laren. Services in the 'United 'Church were largely attended on Sunday last, the Rev. Arthur Sinclair delivering inspiring discourses. In the morn- ing a trio was given by Mrs, Redden, 'Mrs. Drysdale and :Mr's. Sinclair. In the evening a duet by Mrs. 'Sherritt and 'Mrs. ',Hess. Next Sunday anniversary services will be held and Rev. W. P. Quite a number from here attended the services at 'Hillsgreen on Sunday afternoon where a very inspiring ser- mon er-m w was delivered. by 'Mr. 'Keith Love. The 24th.—The baseball season op- ened here on the 24th with a match between Ilderton and Hensel•l. Reeve Geiger pitched the first ball. Some good playing was done on both sides and the match resulted 5.3 in favor of Hensel]. There was a large crowd present to en'jo'y the game. In the evening Duncan Cowan of Toronto put on a concert in the town hall after which 'the large crowd pre- sent enjoyed a dance, the music be- ing furnished by the Hayter orches- tra. The clay's proceedings were un- der the auspices of the Hensall Fire Brigade.
