made to have the church appropriate-
ly decorated as it will be Children's
Sunday.

What might have proved a serious
accident happened to Mr. Thomas
Taylor wheal he fell to the ground
from the cab of a truck unloading su-
gar at Radford's store on Tuesday
afternoon, Mr. Taylor was uncon-
scious for a time and had to be taken
home

Died at Toronto.—The death et the
Private Patients' Pavilion, 'Toronto,
of a former Blyth girl, Mrs. Eric E.
Ward Jones, came es sad news to
many friends in Blybh on Sunday.
Mrs, Jones was Miss Vern Evelyn
Bennett, before her ,marriage several
years ago, and she was born thirty-six
years ago in Blyth and attended
school here. Pleuro -pneumonia with
which she was ill but one week, was
the cause of her death, which occurr-
ed about 7:30 Sunday morning. Mrs,

whom died only a year ago at the
home of her daughter, Mrs, R. R,
Sloan, Bayfield, After learning millin-
ery, Airs. Jones had a position with

firm, Besides iter husband, she is sur-
vived by three sisters, Mrs. Herb.
Thomas, Guelph; Mrs, Robert Sloan,
of Bayfield; Mrs. Hall, in China, and
one brother, Frank, of Regina, Fun-
eral services were held at 'her late res
idence, 23 Castle Frank Crescent, To-
ronto, on eiouday evening at 8 o'cl•o_ck
and ole Tuesday at 2 P.m, service was
held in St. Andrew's United Church,
Blyth, conducted by Rev. Geo. Weir,`
pastor of the church, and Rev, R. M,
Gale, of Bayfield United Church. The
church was filled wieh friends. An
exceptionally large number, o
flowers from Toronto, Guelph, Blyth,
Bayfi'eld'and many other places bore
testimony of her friendship. Inter-
ment took place in Union cemetery.

ton.

The late frosts caused considerable
damage to the crops while potatoes
and vegetables were cut to the ground.
The rain on Wednesday has some-
what revived damaged growth. Hail
accompanied the rain of a snowy ria

Mr. W. Manley was a Brussels vis-
itor last Sunday.
Gravelling the roads is the order of
the day.
Our road superintendent, Mr. W.
Manley, is busy getting the Township
crusher started in Love's pit at
Leadbury.
BRUSSELS.
A fatal accident occurred when Mr.
Albert 'C. Dames, ,who owns a farm

killed while

assisted by Duncan Johnston, ex-
perienced in the 'business of 'blasting.
An explosive had been placed at the
root of a stump, which er, Dames,
after waiting some time, decided
would not explode. 'On going to in-
vestigate, he put his hand in the
hole, and at that moment it ettploded,
The force of the explosion blew the
flesh from his hand and crushed his
head.
He never knew what occurred.
Coroner Milne of (Blyth was soon on
the scene, and after investigating,
ordered the remains to be taken to an
undertaker's.
Mr. 'Dames, who was 70 years of
age, formerly lived at Cranbrook,
where he was a cattle drover. He
was well know, itt Seaforth, having
visited 'here a number of times. •

'Mrs. J. Mossop was suddenly call-
ed on `Sunday to the bedside of her
father, Mr. 'Watson, ISauble 'Line,
who is suffering a severe attack of
pneumonia. Strange to say, his son
Jack was taken with the sane trouble
but at the time of writing, we . are
pleased to report, is improving; but
Air. Watson who is adwanced in years
is not as .well as we' would like to
report. 'His-neany friends wish him
a speedy recovery. •
