Council Meeting. - The regular monthly meeting of the village coun- cil was held on Monday evening last with all the members pres•en•t. The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted on motion of Petty & Cameron. Mr, Lentmon, of the Com- mercial Hotel, was present and made a complaint to the council about the water that has been coming into his cellar and stated that he had had a certain amount of loss. The street committee made a report on the :mat- ter stating that they had examined the sewers and found them in good working order and that Mr..Lemmon's own drain was plugged. It is possible that on King street there is an old drain that the hotel property is drain- ed into, but the council thought that it was up to Mr. Lenatnon to drain his property into the new sewer, which would stop any further difficulty. Mrs. Paterson wished to have a light placed on the post in front of the hos- pital and the council promised to look into the matter. As there are s1a11 some dogs is town without a tag, Constable Hudson was instructed to see that the dogs were properly tag- ged or take action against their ow- ners. The manager of the town hall ,was instructed to collect the usual, fee from all who used the town hall for entertaining purposes, A number of accounts were presented and ordered paid, on motion of Ortwein and Petty. Quite a discussion took place on the merits of oil or calcium chloride as a dust pre- ventative. The reeve explained that most of the places in the county were again using calcium chloride this year as they were well satisfied with the results last year. The streets of Hen- sall received a heavy coat of gravel in 1928 and in 1929 were not in shape to get the best results from calcium chloride. The reeve stated that he understood Exeter was buying a car- load for their streets this year and that he was going to Goderich in a few days and would take the matter up with the county engineer and see which would be the best for our streets. The clerk was instructed to secure bonds from a bonding cotn- pany for $2,000 for the collector and 55,000 for the treasurer..
