Perhaps never in the history of the
village has a more general sadness
prevailed than when word was passed
from one to another that Michael
Gregory Klin•kha'tnimer (Greg.), form,
erly of Dublin, had been drowned in
the Fraser River at Ladner, BC, The
sari accident occurred an August 12th
at 8.30 p.m. A friend in the water ap-
peared to be in distress and Greg went
to his assistance. After the rescue,
Greg decided to go for a swim but ap-
parently the exertion and excitement
had been too much for him and he
fell lifeless into the water, His body
was recovered two hours later.
Though twenty years have passed
,since Greg left for the western ,prov-

.lir. Duncan MacGullutu of Blyth
delivered to Mr. John McGrath an ex-
tra fine horse one day last week. This
fine animal was 5 years old and
weighed 1960 lbs, Good judges say
that this was one of the best horses
which has been shipped out of this dis-
trict for years. The price was in the
neighborhood of $250.
Mr. Dan, Williams of Chicago is
spending two weeks' holidays with his
many friends here.

was solemnized at Stratford on Wed-
nesday, August 28th, at high noon

came the bride of Mr. Anson Coleman,
son of Mr. George iColetrtan, Stanley
Township, the' Rev. Mir, Byers officia-
ting. The bride wore a dress of blue
georgette and chiffon velvet with hat
to match. Miss ;Blanche !Taylor, sister ste
of the 'bride, attired its 'French ;beige
satin -faced crepe, acted as bridesmaid,
while the groom was supporlted by his
cousin, Mr. Lorne Coleman. The
groom's gift to the bride was silver-
ware, to the (bridesmaid a'bracele-t,and
to the grooms'naan cuff links. The
happy couple left by motor for Tor -
ante, Niagara :Falls, ;Bay City and
Detroit, 'Mr. and Mrs. Coleman will.
reside in Stanley.,
In the severe electric storm early
bast Friday morning Mr. John Man-
son lost two baby beeves and a colt.
The colt was in a different part of the
same field from the baby beeves. Mr.
Max Denome at Blake also lost a val-
uable cow, which was struck by light-
ning,
The anniversary services at Blake
Church on Sunday had very large at-
tendance both morning and evening.
Goshen church service was withdrawn
for this occasion. Rey. Jas. Sco'bie of
Belgrave had charge at the services,
Duets at the morning service and;abso
at the evening service by Messrs.
Lobb and Pearson of Clinton, accom-
panied by Mrs. Lobb, were greatly en
joyed. Two anthems were sung. by
the choir, Mies RetalilclBride presid-
ing at' the organ.
Rev. Win. O. Robinson has return-
ed to his home in Antler, Sask,
Mrs. Nelson Yeo and daughter Ger-
trude who spent the past week with
friends in Stanley, have returned
home to Toronto.
Mr. Robert Fisher of Clanton visit-
ed over the week -end at the home of
his sister, firs. Joseph Hood.
Mr. and Mrs, Hugh McLachlan and
family visited in Brantford on Sun-
day.
Mr. Laurie Hyde and bride are vis-
iting the former's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John Hyde.
